When played on PS4 Pro with a 4K TV, God of War outputs in a dynamic 4K resolution achieved through a 2160p checkerboard. Players with 1080p HDTVs will also benefit from increased image clarity via supersampling of a higher resolution onto their display. Across all PS4s, God of War also features HDR lighting and a wide color gamut for those with TVs that support HDR.

:datass:

Can't wait for it!

Been replaying them all on the Vita, mildly coincidently. It’s some series but flits between the sublime to the infuriating, the first game especially. Davey Jaffe needs a kick in the pussy for some of the bits in that frigger. The ‘kick the block across the spike floor’ bit, the underwater tunnel with the massive wood thing bit, the ceiling beam bit, kicking the bastard up the hill bit, the entire underworld bit, the desert bit, the final boss bit...

It looks great, but I hope they'll add subtitles this time! :x

Did it through sheer luck. Vita nearly got lashed against the wall a fair few times.
About to start GoW II after playing Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. They’re fairly middling, the PSP ones, tbh. I feel awful saying that because...y’know, they were both an incredible achievement. GoS pips it, after an awful opening hour or 2 running about in some volcano or whatever. Environmental design was depressing, man.

I remember it being infuriating. I didn't play it but I remember people saying 2 was better.

I enjoyed the first PSP game, as you say it was a very impressive technical achievment.

Yes I think so.

I’m sure I read somewhere that you can turn it off in the options after a lot of people complaint about the health bar appeared on the bottom of the screen for the boss.

One of the developers replied and you can adjust how you like in the options.

Very good.

I wouldn't have minded if they were static in a corner, or at the bottom of the screen but seeing them move about just looks naff.

Looks like it's right up there with Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn graphically.

- Using CB rendering to reach native 4K pixel count.
- Overall image is sharper than Horizon with some minor CB artifacts.
- Character detail, shading and world detail is praised.
- GPU accelerated particles also praised.
- Volumetric lighting praised. It's truly volumetric, not baked.
- Post Process is also excellent with per-object motion blur.
- The only visual element slightly letting down is reflections on water surfaces.

I was going to ask where the cheapest place to pre-order is but I've decided this is one for the Digi Download. Looks lovely.

Re: God of War - Due for release on 20/04 - Difficulty settings chatter from dev

Difficulty

Before starting, a player has to decide how demanding the game should be. ( :o  :o )

God of War’s four difficulty settings includes one that it is so intense that it has a separate save and can’t be changed after the game is started in that mode. It allows players to play the most challenging mode without having to sacrifice to play through the game’s other difficulties, which includes one that is meant to essentially covey the story.

And that fourth, hardest setting isn’t simply an algorithmic increase in difficulty, God of War creative director Cory Barlog says. “We did a ton of stuff to make it a genuine challenge, not a cynical increase. Enemies are all changed up. We changed the attack patterns of things; it’s hugely different.”

The decision to include the easiest setting, which is called Story Mode, was meant to appeal to players who just want to enjoy the world and “not get beat up every two seconds,” Barlog says.

And once players finish the game, no matter what difficulty they’re playing, they can keep playing the game, continue to experience the world that they likely haven’t fully examined.

Definitely gonna give that fourth one a bash. Sounds very interesting indeed. (If what they say is true and hasn't been blown out of proportion.)

Watched the Digital Foundry stuff and this looks incredible. UC:LL is the most impressive game visually that I've played gen so if it's better than that we are in for a treat.
