Have you seen that covid they have now? Masks eh, what are those all about?! This guy knows what I'm talking about *points to back of room*

The only thing I would probably think of mentioning Covid wise would be some of the things I got told when my work was being swamped for hand sanitizer

we were only allowed to sell 2 bottles per customer and I had a woman screaming at me that she had 3 kids how was she supposed to decide which one of them was going to die , she was super over the top and for a second I nearly said ''well we all have our favourites and the one we don't really care about''

I know at least a few minutes will be taken up by talking about my Step Grandads funeral as that was weirdly funny but I wont spoil that I will make sure to use and record it there something dark for you all to look forward to ..... I have a very dark sense of humour.

Darker the better humour wise for me! My favourite bits Stewart Lee does live are often the savage bits thst have the room go quiet, and then he doubles down on it.

The only thing I've done which is close would be my best man speech which got big laughs and went down really well, although you've got a room mostly on your side in that case. I've done open Mic with music a few times, which is pretty nerve wracking but fine once you get going.

So here is a little bit of an update

I received an email today which was sent out to the aspiring comics on the clubs list basically saying they wanted to check which new acts definitely wanted to do it and if you'd be available in the near future and basically as a warning to prepare a ten minute set in case your picked, so I have told them I really want to do it and will start prepping my ten minutes, I think I have a definite 5 Minutes of concreate material I will be using and then some bits I need to polish and get ready, I am buzzing with both adrenaline and fear right now even though I have no clue if I will be used in the near or distant future.

It sounds funny from what you've wrote above, which is a good sign!

Dark humour works best when you build up to it and, like, escalate it I think. Good luck with your routine, I would definitely not be able to do it!

Excellent, 5 minutes is a perfect length of time (don't) for your first gig.

Best of luck Kerr, and remember, whatever happens, you'll still be funnier than most of the 'comedians' which appear on channel 4. ;)
