I think the game does take some of these things in to account though, as when I was asked by a god to go and find a pot for him, fenlox went "already got it!" As I'd stumbled upon it somewhere earlier.

That took me a moment

Jenuall wrote:I get that as games have become more detailed and involve voice acting, motion capture etc. it has become harder and more expensive to capture different dialog to represent changes to how a player has arrived at something but it's still disappointing when these things are missed.

Sometimes it requires multiple lines of dialogue for different situations, other times it could just be rewritten to avoid the problem like with this example. It's a small complaint but it's the kind of detail that I find important to immersion.

In combination with other reasoning is why I think it should have been mandatory to do earlier. The ill-fitting dialogue is one thing, but I also found it awkward to loot a cosmetic appearance for the bird before unlocking it as an ability and for the game to not acknowledge that. Instead it's just "you got x" like any other bit of loot apart from I had no idea what x was and I had no way of finding it in my inventory afterwards. And finally yeah, it's a cool ability that makes the game more fun so I would have rather not have to unlock it but just have it available from the start/from the tutorial area.

Started this up earlier, to be met with a new message at the title screen pushing the DLC, which spoiled the ending of the game :fp:

The name of it, descriptive text AND picture, all spoil it. God work Ubisoft

Currently at 42 hours, feels like I'm nearing the end soon, but thankfully I no longer have to worry about the game being spoiled as it's done it for me :simper:

I've played the demo on Switch and XSS. I couldn't quite decide whether I wanted to buy the game afterwards, but after much consideration, I'll pick it up when it's on offer.

I'm at 50 hours now and still have what feels like a decent chunk to do (certainly plenty of sheikah shrines Vaults left to do).

I have a feeling that the demo might not have given me a full picture of what the game has to offer. The demo was a bunch of small islands, no vaults, a couple of super-easy puzzles, and an easy boss fight.

Yeah I tried the demo last night and came away feeling less sure about the game than I was before.

It's very hard to get a real handle on anything from such a short taste (and with no frame of reference as to whether this is actually representative of the wider game) but it all felt quite soulless to me and it didn't really seem to present me with a clear reason for anything to be of interest or value to me as a player. Again, this may all be to do with the way they have put the demo section together and so the full game may not suffer in the same way, but this is all I've got to go on.

It does have quite a charming look to it, and actually has more of a unique visual identity than I had credited it with just from looking at screenshots and videos. But the reverse of that is true of the gameplay which seems even more derivative of Breath of the Wild than I had expected - it really does feel like they barely broke a sweat trying to find ways to put some distance between it.

It's pretty shameless in it's rippling off of breath of the wild, to its detriment in some cases:

4 main areas, each with a divine beast god you need to help out, who will then help you beat calamity gannon the main boss at the centre of the map in hyrule castle a mountain surrounded by a big red swirl. Along the way, you'll have to go inside shieka shrines vaults of Tauros which contain physics based puzzles where you'll be rewarded with orbs Zeus' lightning which you can exchange for an increase in stamina (You have a stamina bar for climbing and running). You can tame horses, have a bow, sneak up on enemies, chop down trees and you have A glider wings for traversing. Oh and each god you save gives you a special power which you can use once, then it has a long cool down

It doesn't do any of this as well as BOTW, but once you can get past it trying to be a rip off, it's actually a great game. Kind of a less serious assassins creed that wants to be BOTW.

I would reccomend it, I'd say it's a solid 8/10 game.

I've just sort of stopped playing it still doing the first of the four areas, only played 10-15 hours. Between it and AC Valhalla it's the latter that's gripped me much more (that's only taken 100 hours for me to lose momentum on  ) which is maybe a bit surprising, but Fenyx really does suffer imo from templating BOTW so closely.

Yeah that doesn't sound like they had any shame at going down the rip-off route!

I am planning on getting Valhalla next month, which I think will take up a huge chunk of my time. Once I've gotten bored with that, I'll look at whether this is on offer.

I sampled the demo on both Stadia and Switch and whist I kinda-sorta fancied getting it, I turned back to a second playthrough of BotW and I haven't looked back. Maybe by the time I finish that again the price will have dropped enough for me to take a punt.

Wait for the Gold edition with all the DLC.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I finished this today, I think I clocked up about 70 hours in the end and got every single thing you could.

It's not amazing, but I really enjoyed it. I dont think I'll be picking up the season pass though.
