There was a place on Brixton road between the tube station and the Academy where I saw Space Channel 5 once, but couldn't buy it because I was on my way to a gig. Google maps tells me it's still there and is called SW9 Game.

Mix of new and preowned. You can get 10 PS2 games for £4 or something. They have a couple of cabinets for retro, spotted some obvious pokemon fakes in there though so I don't think they are vetted.

Finally, one sort of close to where I am
I'll check that out if I'm ever in that area again

Sells everything from NES to current generation. They also have a Facebook page which they post updates on, often including pictures on what has been traded in.

Now closed with immediate effect.

There’s on in Leven, near Kirkcaldy in Scotland called Pixel Planet. They’ve got a Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/PixelPlanetScotland/

Not been up yet but I’ve bought stuff online from them and they guy was sound. Did me a Gameboy Micro for £40. Was in decent nick.

Oh, nice. Never been into the store before, but nice to see it getting a visit from a former Gadget Show host.

I think I have them followed on Facebook, but it's been a long time since I ever used it for anything other than Messenger.
Might have to check the store out one time.

My problem is that there are precious few indie games shops in the Glasgow area. When I do find out about one they're usually a pain in the arse to get to, overpriced, or closed down by the time I find out about them.

I think that's a problem everywhere, unfortunately. :(

I think some retro stores are more like museums to a degree. They have cabinets full of overpriced stuff which they don't actually want to sell. It's there to lure folk in who will in turn buy something far cheaper.

True.

It can't be an easy shop to run.

The market for Retro stuff is perhaps just too niche to support most brick and mortar retailers, which is why so much of it becomes online only.

I genuinely miss when Gamestation was around because it always had a fairly decent retro section. Game utterly destroyed that aspect when they took them over.
