What're the odds this thing never actually launches?

Haha, this thread always cheers me up!

Optimism in the face of doubt is a great quality, but then there's this insanity.

After this horrible year, I think we all need a dose of Jawa.

Do we need a second dose in 12 weeks?

I'm playing to the crowd a wee bit but I do genuinely hope that the Amico arrives and surprises people... in a positive way :-) .

We should have a prediction game: will Earthworm Jim be any good and if it is, when will it get ported elsewhere

I've not actually played an Earthworm Jim game and - having seen Pedz/Jeffyard stream them - the older games look a little taxing and unforgiving for my tastes. The new game is an Amico exclusive, though, and it is being built by many of the original team, including the legendary David Perry!

Earthworm Jim (for my money) is probably the most over-rated 2D platform series from the 16-Bit era.

It looks great even now, but I always hated how they played.

They're not bad games, but I wouldn't say they were ever particularly good.

EDIT: I know I'm in the minority with that opinion though.

No I agree, I always found them really dull and frustrating to play.

Hopefully the new one will be a little more approachable and friendly. It'll be interesting to see if the experienced development team can deliver a "must have" exclusive for the system.

We had it on PC CD, it was very hard (I think we got to the third level?) but it was both fun and funny - at least to kid me.

I just watched it!

I'm pretty impressed. It was great to see the actual console and start-up screens (albeit they're subject to further development at this stage).

It was cool how the players selected their ship type on the controller screen and it then dropped straight into the action. Nice to see a combination of Amico controllers and phone controller in action, too; it's neat how the controllers can be turned around and used in the style that you prefer.

A good feature in Astrosmash is how the game's enemies automatically adjust their attack levels to how many players were joining the game. The music and sound effects were very good and the video has bolstered my thinking that things are starting to come together now. It seems that we'll soon see some vids for other launch titles, too.

To me, that looks on par to most free mobile games. That man gives off strong pyramid scheme vibes also.

I'm not too sure how much of the video you watched, Clarkman? The controllers and multiplayer action didn't make me - personally - think of mobile gaming. That guy, Tommy Tallarico, has worked on hundreds (over 300) videogames, is an emeritus for the Games Development Conference and delivered a TED talk on videogaming.
