@totalamateur more like! ;)

That's frustrating, I wonder who was the cause of the confusion over allocations? Did Amazon just make a mistake or did Intellivision mess up their comms?

I believe Amazon made a mistake with their allocation. I spent 45 minutes on a call with Amazon customer services last night and they were - probably understandably as their services team won't know the exact status of every one of their millions of products - totally oblivious as to the reason why Amazon had cancelled my order. The services rep suggested that the launch may have been cancelled and that's why my order was stopped  :x :fp: .

It's only through an update from Intellivision that I heard about the stock allocation issue.

Frustrating!

Hopefully they can smooth things out as it gets closer to launch

Intellivision should send you one out of courtesy. I hope you've let them know your order has been cancelled.

I'm frustrated - with Amazon and Argos rather than Intellivision - and I'm wondering how I'm gonna keep on posting bright and positive tweets for seven months when there is a big possibility that I won't even be able to get the console near launch.

Perhaps I'll just continue and hope things work out. The super-frustrating thing is that my pre-order with Amazon for an additional controller still stands. I could be sitting there in October waving a controller around without a console  :( :fp: .

This was his scheme all along!

EDIT: Hope you manage to sort one Jawa. It would suck if you need to sit and wait for ages to get one.

Jawa must surely qualify as an Amico influencer at this point?

Thanks, kaz, but @totalamico is very, very small beer compared to some other guys that make regular Amico videos on Youtube! I just post little pictures and mention upcoming games. I enjoy it, though, and I've been fortunate enough to get to around 130 followers :-) .

You've influenced us to, mostly, stop taking the piss out of it though. So good job. :toot:

I'm pretty pis*ed off that I may not get a console myself at launch... but also happy that I can kinda legit say that the Amico has sold-out seven months before launch. Amazing :o :datass: .

Ah, that’s really crappy news, you of all people getting your preorder cancelled. However much I might tease about it, I love to see these niche consoles, like the N-Gage and the Gizmondo.

It does seem strangely early to be cancelling pre-orders. The Series X/S only went on pre-order two months before the launch date, and this is still seven months away. I think they’re just being cautious, not wanting to over-promise on the numbers they can ship. I bet they’ll go back on sale before October (if they can get a volunteer to help the bloke who’s building them).

I would imagine that they are being pretty conservative with production and allocation of units at this point, given the economics of breaking into the market - I would expect stock to become more available as launch gets closer. Hopefully you still manage to bag one jawa!

I *think* that, worldwide, Intellivision are aiming for 100K consoles to be available at launch. Obviously not millions, but not bad considering it's relatively unknown and launching during a year when electrical components are in huge demand by much bigger companies; and pretty impressive to think that they're probably gonna be sold as pre-orders long before launch.

You sure it’s not 100K revenue?

It's neat as there has been barely any advertising yet; the only promotion has been posters appearing in Game Stop in the US. Nothing in Europe and that's where it is selling out!

I have read that Intellivision are working to see if they can shift some stock allocation around so that Amazon Europe can get some more Amico consoles.

Tommy Tallarico posted the news over on the Atari Age forum. The forum is (obvs!) centred around Atari but it has areas/topics for other systems, too. I've signed up as totalamico and, if anyone is interested in keeping up to date on Amico news, it may be worth keeping an eye on. Don't panic, though - I will still be posting all the key news here :toot: .
