I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed videogames.

Nah Tallarico is legit.

I believe he runs, or at the very least he's heavily involved in, the Video Games Live tours which are excellent.

I'd argue that without his involvement this wouldn't even exist at this point.

That wee game did look alright in that "I'd pay a few quid for it, play it twice then never look at it again" kind of way. Which would be fine if it was on Steam or something. I'm just not dropping $250 on something to play it.

If it was £100 I'd maybe take a punt on it, simply to see what the homebrew and modding community do with it. I'll keep an eye on ebay for them.

If you can use your phone to replicate the “unique controllers”, then what is the point in having to buy that hardware? Just release the games on all of the existing app stores.

The Amico controller has control disc, gyro, mic, light, touchscreen, RFID and button functions; and mobile devices - via a free app - can be used as additional controllers for some games.

Edit: Correction - the RFID functionality (kinda like the Amiibo NFC tech) is built into the console, not the controller.

Absolutely; there are probably relatively few folk who have his kind of experience in the industry. Intellivision has also installed J Allard - the guy who spent twenty years at Microsoft and co-founded the Xbox division and lead the launch of the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 - as the managing director.

On the surface it's easy - and maybe understandable - to think "lol mobile!" but, with a little checking, you can start to discover the experience of the folk behind this project and what they're aiming to build.

Tallarico has made an interesting post on the AtariAge forum's Amico thread:

Malrinth wrote:Would be interesting to see which other games you can dual-wield with those controllers!

Tommy Tallarico wrote:Because Amico comes with 2 controllers out of the box... that means we have a HUGE advantage over other systems because we could have a game use 2 motion controlled controllers. Maybe even like "hands" like you see in VR.

Dual-wielding the motion controllers could be neat!

Tallarico has advised that the April target launch date is only 20% likely now due to impacts on the development and manufacturing processes arising from COVID. Options for a later launch date are being looked at but summer was mooted in an earlier interview.

I'm a bit disappointed because I was hoping the April date could be hit but, hey, it'll allow for more games to gain some polish in the meantime.

Hey, all! There has been a big development for fans - or even just interested gamers! - of the Amico today. Club Amico has evolved into TotalAmico.

TotalAmico is a new Twitter channel focused on the upcoming console, with the aim of sharing news and views on the world of Amico in a positive way! All GRcadians are welcome to join in; just follow @totalamico from your Twitter account. And, hey, if you stumble across any folk who are interested in the Amico, I'd be grateful if you could let them know, too :-) .

There are a few followers already! :o . Thanks, guys  .

I'm genuinely not trying to get anything out of this - I just wanted to direct some of my enthusiasm for the console into something that could help me - and others - to join up with people who are keen on the system :-) .

Note how it takes like 60 seconds for that console to boot up. I really hope it’s because they haven’t optimised it

Yeah, Tallarico explains how that is from a cold start; he suggests that most folk would probably have it in sleep mode and that the system is then ready to go almost instantly.

Got my first non-GR follower and comments on the new channel :-) . It's gonna be hard to get noticed but I'm including the "#Amico" tag on tweets and so hopefully some folk will pick up on it over time. A good start for day one!

You missed out the d in Force feedback on your graphic. You're going to need to expand the operation to include a proofreader if you want to get the Big T's approval
