I think it looks really awesome. Better than the last two albums, anyway. I love AMOLAD's artwork so it's not better than that.

I've listened to The Writing on the Wall a good few times now and it's not really clicking with me. About half of it I like and half of it I'm indifferent to. The mix in the music video specifically is terrible, I don't know how they managed to bury the vocals so much. It's better elsewhere thankfully. Anyway, the singles in recent years have tended to be among the lesser material on each album so it doesn't concern me too much.

As for the album, the artwork kind of sucks? It's conceptually identical to The Book of Souls. Closeup shot of Eddie on a dark background dressed up in culture specific garb, from Mayan to Japanese this time. Of all the things they could have done, that they went back to the same well again twice in a row and opted for something as uninspired as samurai Eddie is disappointing. On the plus side, as a big fan of Harris' modern epics, that we're getting four 9+ minute songs from him this time is very exciting.

Of course the entire band and this upcoming album is now living in the shadow of Dickinson showing himself to be a strawberry floating moron as of late which is deeply unfortunate.

The fact that this is a double album makes me think it's gonna have all the issues Book of Souls has.

I can't wait to hear it though. It's a Maiden album, these are always big events for me.

Finally got round to listening to the new single. I'm not sure Dickinson sounded all that great.

It was a good track but something felt off. Maybe the mixing? I'm not really musically intelligent so I've no idea what the problem was.

Yeah, the mix isn't great.

I quite liked the new track, but yes the mix seemed off. Great video though.

I would call most of the things mentioned here "references" rather than easter eggs, because they're not exactly hidden, but there are a fair few things I didn't spot originally.

Remember that guy who does the incredible Bruce impression? Him and his mates have already covered The Writing on the Wall... and it arguably sounds better than the original!

Iron Maiden should just write the songs and get these guys to perform them :shifty:

Initial thoughts: The mix sounds really flat, and Bruce's vocals are really weak in the verses, although they do pick up a bit for the bridge and chorus. Not much going on musically either, although it feels much closer to Dance of Death or Brave New World era than anything from the last two albums. Still kind of underwhelmed though.

I hate to say this about Iron Maiden but I really wasn't keen on that. The vocals sounded like they were from a different song entirely.

I like the song. The mix is atrocious though. Bruce is buried, which is a shame, because the vocal performance is really good on the whole. He doesn't strain at all, and it is so welcome.

Yep, better get my order placed! Guess I’ll go for the 2CD book edition, so it sits nicely with Book of Souls.
