En Vivo looks pretty cool from what I've seen of it. The Talisman in particular is pretty devastating. It's a better Brucey performance than what we had in Belfast. He kinda struggled at certain points (I think Coming Home was one of those moments).

I also listened to some tracks off Blaze's new album. What I've heard is not good at all. And one of the youtube comments on his song Dimebag  :fp:

I hope someone shoots Blaze Bayley in the head while he's on stage.

Jesus.

Yeah, it's pretty average overall. I only really liked the title track and Dimebag (despite it's rather terrible lyrics).

Silicon Messiah and Tenth Dimension are really brilliant albums though, Blood & Belief is decent too. Seems like since changing from Blaze to Blaze Bayley, it's been downhill. Although I haven't really properly listened to The Man Would Not Die, it didn't really grab me from what I've heard so far.

Brucie's voice was definitely flagging by the time I saw them last. The very last date of the tour, and it was pretty obvious, with those prolonged westwards in The Talisman nowhere to be found. :(

Looking forward to listening to En Vivo.

He does really well with it in En Vivo although you can see it's seriously taking it out of him.

So you know their next tour, they're coming here next year, right? Question for all the experts, when do you reckon ticket sales will be announced? Want to make a note in my diary to keep a look out.

No idea when they'll announce it, but ticket sales will no doubt soon after they do. The easiest way to stay up to date is to like the band on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter, or sign up to their mailing list.

Iron Maiden's 'The Number Of The Beast' voted Best British Album of the last 60 years

Iron Maiden's 'The Number Of The Beast' has been voted as the best British album of the last 60 years in a new poll.

The metal classic came out on top in a public vote conducted by HMV to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and took almost 10% of the votes cast.

Depeche Mode were a surprise in second place with their seminal album 'Violator', while The Beatles featured four times in the Top 10, firstly at Number Three with 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.

The other entries from the Fab Four were 'Abbey Road' at Number Four, 'Revolver' at Number Six and the 'White Album' at Number 10, with Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' at Number Five. Queen were at Number Seven with 'A Night At The Opera', Oasis were Number Eight with 'What's the Story) Morning Glory?' and Adele was at Number Nine with her mega-seller '21'.

Speaking about the achievement, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickenson said: "We're astonished and delighted to hear 'The Number of the Beast' has been named Number One. Some of the most influential and classic albums from the past 60 years were in the running so it’s a testament to our incredibly loyal and ever-supportive fans who voted for us."

He continued: "Iron Maiden is a proudly British band, so to win this category as voted for by the British public, in Jubilee year, is very special. Thank you to all our wonderful fans!“

Outside the Top 10, The Clash placed at Number 13 with 'London Calling', with David Bowie's 'The Rise and Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars' at Number 14 and The Smiths' 'The Queen Is Dead' at Number 15.

Radiohead's 'OK Computer' was 17th, with Black Sabbath's self-titled effort at Number 16. The Who, Sex Pistols, Blur, Stone Roses, The Cure, Joy Division, Arctic Monkeys, Pulp and The Rolling Stones all failed to make the Top 20.

The 10 Best British Albums of the last 60 years as voted in HMV poll were as follows:

1. Iron Maiden – 'The Number Of The Beast'
2. Depeche Mode – 'Violator'
3. The Beatles – 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'?
4. The Beatles – 'Abbey Road'
5. Pink Floyd – 'The Dark Side Of The Moon'
6. The Beatles – 'Revolver'?
7. Queen - 'A Night At The Opera'
8. Oasis – '(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?'
9. Adele - 21'
10. The Beatles – 'White Album'

This is the first Iron Maiden tour since 1991, 1998 and 1988 in which "The Prisoner", "Afraid to Shoot Strangers" and "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" were played respectively.[8][9]
This is the first tour in which "Hallowed Be Thy Name" (from The Number of the Beast, 1982) was not played since its release.

Fantastic overall although the lack of Infinite Dreams is a shame.

When the set is modern focused it usually gets some love, they played it all throughout the first leg of The Final Frontier Tour in 2010.

Steve Harris Solo Album 'British Lion' Releases September 24th

Image

EMI Music are proud to announce the release of Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris’ debut solo/side project album. Entitled ‘British Lion’ and comprising ten songs that Steve and his collaborators have been working on for the past few years between Iron Maiden tours and releases, it is an album that will surprise and delight music fans the world over.

With a decidedly heavy rock-vibe this roaring debut paints with a full palette of sounds; brooding, melancholic, righteously indignant and exuberantly heavy. With Kevin Shirley at the mixing helm – whose credits include Iron Maiden as well as Led Zeppelin, Journey and Rush among many others – this is an album to sink your teeth into.

From the growling riffage of opening salvo This Is My God to the heavy forlorn balladry of follow-up Lost Worlds which showcases Richard Taylor’s soaring vocals, it’s clear that ‘British Lion’ is an altogether different beast from Maiden.

Karma Killer, with its dirge-like muscularity, and Us Against The World, with its massive chorus, demonstrates just how far ‘British Lion’ has flexed Steve Harris’ considerable musical muscle. Dovetailed with guitarist David Hawkins’ positively gargantuan lyrical guitar melodies, it’s a mere hors d'oeuvre ahead of the epic, riffing-feast of The Chosen Ones, with its swaggering bravado.

A World Without Heaven, at a breathtaking seven minutes and infused with progressive elements without ever teetering into self-indulgence illustrates perfectly these songsmiths’ colossal abilities to create a mood and stay there. Supercharged by Steve Harris’ inimitable style, there’s an un-cynical vibe here that’s as refreshing as it is out of place in today’s all-too-categorised music industry.

And as far as the name ‘British Lion’; “I’ve always been proud to be British,” explains Steve, “I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be. It’s a massive part of being me. It’s not like I’m flag-waving or trying to preach, this is not a political statement at all. It’s like supporting your football team, where you come from. I just think it lends itself to some really strong imagery too, and to me it fits in with the sound.”

With Iron Maiden, Steve Harris has become one of the most recognised and successful ambassadors for British music on the world stage. Having released 15 studio albums, sold over 85 million records worldwide and played more than two thousand gigs in 58 countries in the band’s thirty-five year career, his appeal is truly global.

And now with ‘British Lion’, Steve steps out from Iron Maiden’s illustrious shadow to present a different side of his musical visions.

The tracklisting for ‘British Lion’ is as follows:

1.This Is My God
2.Lost Worlds
3.Karma Killer
4.Us Against The World
5.The Chosen Ones
6.A World Without Heaven
7.Judas
8.Eyes Of The Young
9.These Are The Hands
10.The Lesson
