More than likely not.

The Trooper is like, top 3 Maiden songs(See also Powerslave and, controversially, Flight of Icarus :slol:). Bit unfair to ask them to top it 32 years down the line.

The Trooper is one of those songs I've heard so many times at this stage I'm kind of numb to. I also prefer their longer material so for me they've bested it many times at this stage.

Flight of Icarus doesn't get enough love.

My top three classic era tracks are Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Aces High and Revelations. I think they are nigh on perfect songs. I could never tire of them.

My favourite reunion track is Blood Brothers. I strawberry floating love that song, Brave New World was my first Maiden album. Still the most impactful thing written since Brucey and Adrian's return.

You should check out Brucey's solo albums if you haven't already. The last three are awesome albums. Darker than Maiden, but a lot of the same elements.

From the classic era I think I'd have to go with Rime, Seventh Son, and Hallowed. Honourable mentions to Revelations, Children of the Damned, Powerslave, Caught Somewhere in Time, Still Life, Killers...I should probably stop now or I might end up listing almost everything from the first seven albums. :slol:

From modern Maiden I'd have to go with When the Wild Wind Blows, For the Greater Good of God and maybe Dance of Death? No, Brave New World. No wait, The Talisman. Ah strawberry float it, it's a futile endeavour.

Yep, they're great. Chemical Wedding in particular is a favourite of mine.

It'd be quicker to list the Iron Maiden songs I don't like. There are far too many at God tier level to pick favourites.

Awful song that, one of the few Maiden songs I have to skip past every time.

Album is up on Spotify now and presumably iTunes, Google Play, ect.

Downloaded it on Amazon Music. Going to listen to it on the bus.

Edit - This is pretty decent so far. The Red and Black is probably the only that has annoyed me so far.

Second Edit - Album is so long I didn't finish it on my commute. Listening to Empire of the Clouds on my break. This is pretty good. I want Maiden pushing out of their zone more often.

So now we've all had a few days, what is the consensus on the best tracks then? Completely contradicting the above I think Red and the Black is in my top three and as much as I was expecting to dislike Empire it's in the mix too. So for me:

1) Death or Glory
2) If Eternity Should Fail
3) Red and the Black
4) Empire of the Clouds

The River Runs Deep
Empire of the Clouds
If Eternity Should Fail

For me so far. I also like Tears of a Clown. The only song I don't especially like is Speed of Light, to be honest.

I've not listened to it enough to pick out favourites yet but it's definitely a great album. No doubt about that.

The Red and the Black, Empire of the Clouds, and The Book of Souls are my trio of standout tracks. If Eternity Should Fail deserves a very honourable mention too.

Presumably that's what the announcement tomorrow will let us know.
