Just me, or anyone else?

I'm one man, I live with one woman. And yet there just seems to be a constant and never-ending pile of clothes that need washing, then drying, then putting away, but oh no I need to wear them as well, and then they go in the washing. Then they need drying. Then they need putting away. But oh no!

Getting sick of this gooseberry fool, my desk set-up is in the spare room and not a day goes by where there isn't a pile of clothes that need washing, and a full drying rack, right behind me. It seems only death will release me from the burden of laundry.

How does everyone else manage this household chore?

Simple: wear your clothes for longer before washing them. NOT UNDERWEAR.

Try adding in a small child who doesn't pull his weight when it comes to chore.

Excercise doesn't help either. If you excercise 4-5 times a week that's a load more on top.

Wouldn't that just clog up the washing machine?

Don't really have this problem. The wash-bin gets filled up over a week. Once a week it all gets washed together (our washing machine has a good size drum).

I have plenty of spare clothes to wear when my other stuff is waiting to be washed.

We haven't caught up with our clothes washing in about 10 years, just a constantly full washing basket for years on end

There's probably a shirt at the bottom of mine that I haven't worn since 2009.

Usually it's just one clothes wash a week for me but then I do live on my own.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

I wear the same things all week to keep the laundry down.

Yup. Not just clothing, though; I reckon my other half thinks she's running a hotel given the frequency with which she changes the bedding and the towels. It's become something of an obsession of mine to plan doing the washing so that it coincides with the most optimal outdoor drying conditions, simply to avoid having any more wet washing hanging up inside the house than absolutely necessary. Cannot abide that.

You must be one of those people that wears jeans once then washes them.

Only things I wash after one wear are underwear, socks and t-shirts.

Constantly.

I actually get stressed out if I know we've gone more than a day without putting a wash on. I also get needlessly stressed out if I don't get the wash on early enough to give it time to dry in the day, either when it's still light outside in the warm weather, or while the heating is still on in the cold weather.

Family of three - two adults and a five year old. It's relentless :dread:

I pretty much permanently have:
a full washing basket
a full towel/sheet washing basket
a full child's washing basket
stuff drying in the tumble dryer
stuff drying on the heated airer
stuff drying on the regular airer
stuff drying on the kitchen radiator
stuff drying in the hallway radiator
a basket of clean stuff to put away
stuff on the kitchen table to put away

It's slightly better in the summer because the hot weather allows for outside drying, but it's strawberry floating terrible right now.

My misses changes her clothes all the time, sometimes 2 different outfits a day. Myself ill wear indoor clothes for a few days before adding them to the wash. Jeans will last a lot longer it I go out its only really underwear I change daily.

I do go through a lot of running clothes though, enough to have a sports wash once a week.

When did we get so middle aged?

I mean I’m the same. Our 13 year old will literally decide part way through a day she wants to have an outfit change for no reason and then whatever she wore before she chucks in the wash
