Are Britain (and Ireland) like, totally turning into America?

Fed up talking videogames? Why?

I think the reverse of this is also true. I see and hear a lot of Americans now using British slang like “wanker”, “twat” and “minging”. And they seem to say “banana split” a lot more.

So we might have to put up with cinema applause and school proms, but at least American kids are calling Trump a minging twat.

Or "twaht". :dread:

Something I hope the British never lose is the ability to really swear, to make curse words sound devastating. Like, if an American calls you a dick, or tells you to strawberry float yourself, it's just another string of words from their mouth and you don't care, but when a British person does it, it's like being hit by a verbal sledgehammer.

I don’t feel much national pride these days, but I feel my heart swell whenever I hear a yank say “banana split”.

I don't drink tea, I take coffee my dear

http://www.dailyfail.co.uk/news/article ... -2010.html

Tea is under serious threat as the nation’s favourite hot drink.

Outside the home, Britons are now drinking almost two and a half cups of coffee for every one of tea – 2.1billion versus 874million annually.

The expansion of chains such as Starbucks and Costa is testament to the rise of caffeine. Tea consumption, meanwhile, has fallen 19 per cent since 2010.

I've observed this at work, the over 40s have tea, the younger ones drink coffee.

Working with northerners, I hear "wanna brew" a lot from the old ones, the use of "brew" as a noun rather than a verb is really irksome.

Tea and coffee are both hideous drinks consumed by inferior beings who can't seem to survive a day without stimulants.

"I can't function until I've had my first coffee of the day" - sort your life out junkie!

Coffee has been big in England before it was big in 18th century and then again in the 70's

The rest of Europe already does coffee much better than the US or the UK.

Every coffee I had in New England earlier this year was utter trash. Going to Seattle in a couple of weeks. Hoping for better.

So it’s not so much under threat as it is already beaten?

It comes from cunte which is middle English. The word is older than the European discovery of Australia.
