There's a free dynamic theme on PSN.

Used my 10% off code and got it, along with Deracine (which is 8.99 instead of £24.99 atm)

But I'll wait until Christmas to play......HONK!

I have a confession to make, and I think it's testament to how comfortable I feel posting here that I can admit this...I really didn't think that much of the goose game.

For me, the initial gimmick wore off after I realised the levels are just "place a thing far away to distract someone then steal the thing they were protecting".

I did laugh at the 'wear the bow' bit in the garden, but that was it, gave up not long after.

Am I wrong? Or is it just one of those games that doesn't click for everyone?

It’s one of those games that doesn’t click for everyone. Also, you are wrong.

While I understand it going multiplat, it was one of those games that felt perfect on a Nintendo machine. It lives and dies on its goofy charm, similar to Luigi’s Mansion and other Nintendo titles. If that charm doesn’t get you then the rest of the game won’t.

You’re opinion isn’t wrong.

Not everybody has to like the same food, or music or movie - even if the crowd do. If John jumps of the cliff will you go and copy him? You’ve described what you don’t like, that the gameplay is basic and repetitive, so you have a valid reason. It’s all cool.

Also, I think your question would be perfect for Reset Era.

Might get an erection point if the grand overlords of ResetEra happen to like the game though.

After spotting this was on Gamepass, I gave it a go.

I like it. But my son (3 years old) strawberry floating loved it. I let him play around on the second stage and he loved getting chased out of the market stall by the “broom lady” and making the boy jump when honked at. This is actually a good game for him to play as it only needs one stick to play, he really doesn’t understand what to do with the right hand stick in games where you have to move the camera.

Please don't underestimate the influence that John has on me. But I get your point. Gooses just ain't something that I think deserve the stature that this game gives them.

What probably annoys me the most is that it's now free on Game Pass after I spent fifteen odd quid on it on the Switch. strawberry float...everything to do with video games (adding that as a catch all).

What does a comment like this mean exactly?

MS have obviously come to an agreement with the Developer which is mutually beneficial to both parties.

If both sides are happy and it gets a game like this to be seen by more people, then how is it in any way a bad thing?

Exactly.
Nobody forced them to stick the game on gamepass and people are paying for a service so I don't see why anyone should feel bad for using it.
It's like complaining that some people rent a film rather than buy it.
Am I bad for watching The Expanse series 4 with my Prime membership rather than waiting for the DVD?

Got this on my PS4 last night. Absolutely love it.

Some definite head scratchers on the to-do list. And it's so charismatic and brilliant to look at as well.

I don’t know the economics of GamePass and how well developers are rewarded, or whether downloads count towards overall sales. It’s got to be slightly less than retail price, no? Otherwise that’s a loss leader to an extent I can’t see even the newly generous Microsoft countenancing. This is a bloody fantastic game (one of my top fifteen ever, although I’m no retro fan so that list’s weighted towards recent titles) and I’m happy I gave the developers full price for it and I’m happy that lots of people do/did likewise to show support. I’m also a bit sensitive (if that’s the word) because of a bunch of commenters on Nintendo Life moaning about the game’s short length making it not worth full price, as if quantity is the only thing worth paying for. :dread:

That said, I never said anyone was ‘bad’, and I hope that can’t be read into my comment. It’s all friendly here.

On a lighter note, The Lady got me official UGG merch as a Chrimbo gift, including a really creepy top and a very cute t-shirt.

Paid about £12 for it on PSN. Legit worth every pound for the trailer alone. (Which I must have watched and chuckled at many times over.)

I feel you're being a little reductive here. A lot of the actual gameplay mechanics may resort to some core techniques, like the one you're describing, but there's a lot of problem solving along the way to figure out how you're meant to get there.

If you don't enjoy that process then that's fair enough of course. The mechanics don't really differ that much over the 4-5 hour gameplay and I think a lot of the reason people love it (me included) comes from its charm rather than exceptional gameplay.

I've just finished it and feel a bit underwhelmed. I think it would have been better if it was harder. I think the could have done more with the stealth stuff.

It's very much a water cooler game and I can totally understand why people like it.

Edit: I'm also shocked that the giant bomb folks found it difficult.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.
