Hey, kerr, that's a terrific set of Tales titles on the PS3; it's surprising and cool that you have them sealed - they look to be really nice editions.

The PS3 seems to be pretty popular right now and I'm aiming on setting mine up soon :toot: .

I am on my second PS3... I got a old fat PS3 second hand and played it till it over heated, took it apart blew the dust out of it and got it working for 6 months again but now no mater how much I clean it the thing just turns off , I was going to buy new bits and new thermal paste etc until I got my hands on a super slim for £10 and figured that was just a much better use of my cash.. My collection is not that big maybe 50 games, I was much more into my 360 but the PS3 had a fair few things you couldn't get elsewhere.

Ten quid for a PS3?!? Amazing. Like you, I was pretty much a 360 player for much of that gen but I still had and enjoyed the PS3; it got better towards the end of the gen.

Incredible what some consoles go for when not in demand. Give it 10 years and you won't be able to pick a ps3 up for less than £100.

I was going to buy a PS2 in town yesterday. An unboxed original was £65 in CEX :dread:

jawaX wrote:Orange, man, that delivered a real rush! Your story-styled presentation made for a terrific read; I haven't played many of Suda 51's games but I am aware of them and it was great to hear your thoughts and experiences of the titles.

Those Switch special editions of No More Heroes 1 and 2 are just tremendous; they look so good with their lovely steelbooks, CDs and artwork. I could be wrong but I think I recall you mentioning previously that Mrs OR got them for you as a birthday prezzie?

Thanks Jawa! Yeah, those special editions were my birthday present from my girlfriend - although I was the one to order them myself, I wasn't risking not getting them! I'm not keen on massive special edition boxes just for the sheer room they take up, but I'll happily make an exception for my favourite games (or if there are peripherals involved!)

That's a sassy Adam Jensen. What's on the bonus disc?

I am definitely interested! My brother has our original shared PS2 - which doesn't read discs very well now anyway - which is why I'm trying to get a new one as I've been wanting to play some PS2 games recently.

I've got the official vertical stand, a couple of memory cards and games. I think the controller is bust though.

Some behind the scenes stuff chronicling the 'trials and tribulations' of the Eidos-Montreal team
A motion comic based on the first issue of the DC Comics adaptation (I'd completely forgotten there were any comics)
The games soundtrack
E3 Trailer and animated storyboard

That's the kind of content which goes a long way to justifying the cost and it's a shame you don't see it at all these days.

It's a bright new Weekender and I'm sharing my collection of dark and scary Dead Space games  .

I played the opening hour or so of the first Dead Space years ago but then took a break. However, I recently saw Kriken streaming some Dead Space action and I've subsequently dug out my PS3 and set it up... maybe I will be Isaac again! Have you tried playing any of these games?

I've played all of them, I own the Wii one and I own 1,2 and 3 on Xbox 360, never finished them but got a large way through 1 and 2 and really enjoyed them.

Nice one, kerr - it's a great series to have in a collection. My copy of Dead Space 2 included a download of Extraction but I've never tried it yet.

Here is my Weekender contribution 3 Videos showing my Sega Megadrive loose cart collection, I have a load more games that are boxed but I thought to start things off I would just make a record of all the loose cartridges I have (well all I could find not discounting the fact there could be the odd one knocking about I missed out)

What kind of monster separates megadrive games from their lovely hard cases?!

I am kind of surprised how many I have gotten, I have got most of them for a quid or two here and there, I also have a lot of complete games with there boxes and everything but I knew where the loose ones were and thought I will start there. One day I will go through the boxed ones as well particularly as I have some decent stuff like Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 , the Punisher, Maximum Carnage etc.

Not any games this week, but some novel adaptations. He's cooler than Mario and smarter than Sonic - that's right, it's Zool!

Image

I'm pretty certain I got both of these books second hand from a shop in Freeport Fleetwood. I had no idea who Zool was, but he looked cool as hell and was apparently better than Mario and Sonic, so who was I to question him? Anyway, I loved the books - they're kind of like a "my first Hitchhiker's Guide" and very squarely aimed at 8 year old children from the mid 90s. That makes them kind of fun to read over still today, being so of their time.

I didn't actually play Zool until the 2010s, when I tried out the abandonware PC version on DOSBox. It is... not a particularly good game  Thankfully the books aren't riddled with chupa-chups advertising, but that does make going from them to the game a weird and confusing experience!

Side note, I've always thought the slogan is backwards. Surely Sonic is the cool one, and Mario the smart one!

To add something to this, and because i'm currently obsessed with gameboys (before I get bored of them next weekend).

Here are my gameboys:

The original gameboy belonged to my mum (she loved tetris). I sold my one for some stupid reason back in the day, so I was over the moon to find this in the back of a cupboard when we cleared dad's house out.
The colour I got while on holiday in san fransisco, hence the US rating. I got Warioland 2, ALTTP DX and Tetris DX with it (which still has a save profile on it called 'mum' )
The advance I convinced my mum to buy me while she was on holiday in america. I got that with Super Mario Advcance.
The pocket is my recent mod project.
