I watched one episode of Love Island when it debuted with some celebs and then never again.

The way I understand it though it's almost literally Instagram: The TV Show featuring vacuous banana splits on a faux island. This airs daily for weeks on end throughout summer, seemingly appealing to people with nothing better to do during summer than spend their evenings indoors watching other vacuous banana splits on a faux island have a holiday of their own, in the hope that there will be some sex. But only under a duvet in darkness because it's ITV.

Oh and it's hosted by Caroline Flack, who everyone has had a go on at least once.

You don’t cancel that until someone literally shoots up the villa live on air

Now that I would watch.

I see C4 have a classy new show where couples film their sex lives then discuss it with strangers who have also filmed their sex life for the show.

The Word used to have a segment called "I'll do anything to be on television". That's now pretty much 80% of all television these days.

I always said it was ridiculous they could get away with ruining people's lives on the basis of a lie detector test.

Channel 4 might pick it up, but only if it includes gratuitous nudity.

I sometimes used to watch The Word when I really wasn't quite old enough to get most of it.

Remember seeing a bit of it with someone getting their stomach pumped (after eating a curry and drinking a pint of lager) and then they challenged anyone in the audience to drink it to win £100, they actually got someone to do it too :dread:

I wasn't old enough to appreciate The Word at all when it was on, though i never used to watch Channel 4 in those days anyways.

Was it The Word which had a segment called "Freak or Unique"? where people would show off their interesting and often disgusting 'talents'.

I vaguely remember seeing someone stick a rubber glove fully over their head and inflate it to the point of bursting using a single lungful of air.

Jeremy Kyle got nothing as ghetto and slutty as this girl did he?. Imagine if she had showed up on his show it would of been hilarious.

The way the two suicides of former contestants was quickly glossed over and swept under the rug was pretty disgusting.
