I pay for the big standard NSO sub, no intentions of upgrading that to the new tier unless they add more than what they are currently going to offer.

I have actually been thinking, I might end up buying a Steam Deck in the future and being just a PC+Switch gamer. Too many things are becoming paid for services that this might be a better option

I have online subs for Nintendo and PSN. Recently let my Xbox Gold lapse as since getting my PS5 I haven't touched my Series X much. Due to a large backlog of paid games across 3 consoles Game Pass has little appeal. I will always keep my PSN membership to keep access to cloud saves - something MS provides for free on Xbox. Not sure if I will go for the higher online tier on my Switch as it's a big hike for access to some N64/Megadrive games I've already played countless times.

I pay for 2 currently and expect to only pay for 2 (well I’m going to say 2.5……) going forward, realistically I feel like I struggle to play enough content over the Switch and Series X some of the time, so I have no plans on acquiring a 3rd console anytime soon!

Game Pass is for the most part cracking value, I’m subbed up till April 2024 and will probably just let the subscription roll over from then on, as even at £10.99 it’s really good value if you play even 2 games a month off of the service. Except the odd game that doesn’t release to Game Pass I really don’t see myself buying much on that console, still got a few games left over from the Xbox One and if I do buy anything it’ll probably be digital now.

Nintendo Online, I’m a little more funny about, I don’t really play online that much. The odd visit to an island on Animal Crossing, the odd race on Mario Kart, odd battle on Pokémon etc. The main use I get from the online sub is for trading Pokémon around, I suppose by this you could add Pokémon Home into the equation but I’ve not for some reason  Also it’s ridiculous that you need an online sub to get cloud saves for your games :fp: I know I’ll definitely upgrade it to the higher tiered plan as well when there’s more N64 games on there that interest me.

I don't really play games enough anymore to justify the expense, especially online games,or the ones that I do aren't likely to go onto something like gamepass and I'm happy to wait for the GOTY edition to be a fiver or something.

I recently let my PS Plus subscription lapse, so I'm not paying for any services right now.

The only game I played online was Overwatch a while ago, & the monthly games now offer fewer & less interesting titles, so not worth it anymore.

Yeah, I used to really enjoy playing Kart, Rocket League and a dash of Splatoon online with folk here in GRcade but, after a fairly decent run, those sessions just seemed to stop in the end. Back in the Wii U days we played set games on set days month after month but, alas, it never really lasted on Switch in quite the same way.

Jenuall wrote:...PS Plus is just there for the "free" games each month, I don't think I've ever played any online games using it!

I just can't get into the idea of effectively "renting" games; especially when someone else is picking the games that I'm paying for. I don't doubt the overall value and I know that some folk love it, but it's not for me. I'm paying purely for online play and, outside of F76, I haven't done much of that these past couple of years. However... PS Plus does offer some excellent game pricing in sales; sometimes granting double the "non-PS Plus saving" and I do take advantage of this.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of what is effectively renting the games either, but ultimately figure that I'm only ever really paying about £35 a year on Plus so all it really needs to net me is one good game a year and it largely justifies the cost, even if in reality I never really own those games.

With NSO I've found myself playing quite a bit of the NES/SNES games available on there, and while I could no doubt have played many of the same games if they were purchases from a Virtual Console service or part of a package that could be bought outright like the Mega Drive Collection, but I don't think I would have actually put my money down for them if that were the setup.

But yeah, more than anything NSO is a AYAMMM license fee for me at this point!

The only thing I'd ever consider NSO for is backing up my saves. Is there a local way to do this yet?

I have Xbox Gamepass Ultimate (which includes Xbox Gold) but I have it up till June next year due to the Gamepass rewards scheme which usually gets me 1 free month every 2-3months. It works perfect across 2 consoles, both Series X and Series S both have access to Gamepass and online from 1 subscription.

I also have a family plan on my Nintendo Switch which works across both that we have. The Expansion pack is a total rip off but If I'm honest, ill probably get it not only for the N64 roms but my daughter will genuinely get a lot of moneys worth form the Animal Crossing DLC.

I currently have active: Gamepass Ultimate, Fortnite Crew, Stadia Pro and Apple Arcade.

AA is a bargain if you play on your phone a lot but is going since I moved back to Android. FC I only get once every other month so my sub carried over and I get 2 skins for only 1 months' payment. Stadia Pro I took out for a free Premier Edition but I need to pay for 2 months sub as per the terms.

GPU is insanely good value and with Forza and Halo on the way even moreso. I got an Android phone so I could play GPU on my lunch break.

Going forwards I will only keep GPU and maybe the Fortnite Crew every so often if the skin is any good. I do play at least 6 hours of Fortnite a week so it's good value.
