Videogames are for losers; grow up and watch TV or drink more alcohol instead!

Lovely to see folk paying respects to the elders  .

I think that's a good point, floyd - older games often did tend to be simpler and - certainly with many AAA games nowdays -the focus can be on playing (and paying) 24/7. I gotta say that I usually like getting engrossed in these large games but I do agree that they can also be a bit daunting (maybe even wearisome) when you just want to play a game for twenty minutes.

But - but! - I wonder if you may be better trying the smaller indie games? There are tons around now and, quite often, they're far easier to pick up and play, with less demands on your time. This could be a path to invigorating your desire to game, man.

Is it an age thing? Probably.

That is me right now where i am with gaming earlier in the year i re-bought Manhunt for PS4 and i played that more then the other games i have for PS4 and i have completed it and i enjoyed replaying thru it. A few weeks back i got Turok 1 & 2 currently halfway thru Turok and im enjoying playing it again more so then modern games. Is it because its straight forward and not complicated its a pick up and play game straight to the point.

Take the Last Of Us 2 last time i played that was in July i have not been bothered or in a rush to continue playing it and get it out the way yet i will happily load up Turok 1 & 2 and other times do some races on GT Sport. Am i losing interest in gaming due to getting older work other distractions maybe i'm in no rush to buy a PS5 when its far to expensive and right now no games have my interest. Will the PS4 be the last console i ever buy? Who knows maybe it is

Turok 1 & 2 are superb. I picked them up on the re-release on Steam. Outside of Assetto Corsa and PCars (which have had new life breathed into them via a racing wheel) I've mostly been playing Thief Deadly Shadows. Older games do seem to hold my attention longer.

Not planning on giving up but certainly am more mindful of the types of games I play. I want experiences that I can complete when I can only spare 8 or so hours per week. I know I'll get frustrated with games that need huge amounts of time so I tend to avoid these now. Would love to spend the sort of hours I used to but I work 50+ hours a week and I've got a family. There's just not the time.

Yeah, it sounds like you're managing your game types nowdays, Jordan. As with floydfreak, it seems that shorter, more accessible games suit your lifestyle right now.

It's basically my only hobby, so I will play games whenever the opportunity arises. I wish more of my friends and family were in to them so it wasn't such a solitary experience (though I would still play single player games primarily as thats my jam), but i'm not going to stop doing the one thing I really love and understand to persue something more socially acceptable. Like having children.

Hey, kaz, you enjoy it so carry on, dude.

I suspect that many gamers face the social stigma of "y u playing gaemz lol u r too old and it's boring lol" but it's just facts that people like different hobbies and that they often decry what others choose to spend time on. Let's bypass that pretty narrow-minded approach and enjoy our hobby :-).

Totally empathise with this. So much mainstream TV is banal and at times stupifyingly pointless, yet I wouldn't ever take a sh*t on other people's hobbies / TV viewing like many seem to with video games. Although, I'm realising more and more it's a generational thing.

Yeah, that does look to be good, floyd; I think the original has maybe become more respected as time has passed and more folk have tried it out.
