GR is the only forum that I view regularly. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable in something like GAF as, to me, it just seems too large and unwieldy; comments race past with little impact. Here in GR it is slower-paced but we each have the chance to make more of an impression and you can get to know personalities (err, for good or bad ;) ).

Qikz wrote:I still get on with everyone here despite all the name calling at points in time and feeling like I wasn't wanted here...

We do want you here, Qikz - I like the fact that you have some differing tastes to most folk and that you have the StayDead / Qikz dual name :toot: . In particular, I recall your strong guidance around that time I was wary of putting Yarn Yoshis on my shelf (i.e. you pointed out that anyone not liking it could 'go away') - and you were dead right!

Karl wrote:...For instance, I don't know if maybe he found me a bit annoying, but I really really liked reading Dala's comments and it's such a shame he won't post any more. :(

I think that guy had left before I arrived but he sounded kinda cool. I get the impression he works for Nintendo now?

Qikz wrote:...don't enjoy coming on Mumble anymore due to the fact some people are overly negative about everything...

It can be a hard balance to get right. Personally, I prefer to be positive and I, too, get frustrated when I perceive folk to be unrelentingly negative. However, I know that some people look at things differently and that they find, say, my approach to be a bit "happy clappy". I think that is why certain folk tend to gravitate towards other folk in terms of their interaction in GR.

Qikz wrote:...It's why I've loved (Mumble) more recently with people like Pedz, Devlin and Dragon coming on...

I've not tried Mumble - I don't even know how to so I should go and look at the instructions / guidance - but I agree that those guys are a great bunch to chat to. On a couple of occasions I joined in playing The Division with them and they were very welcoming. Even though I was rubbish at the game, obvs :) .

- - - - - - - - - - -

I wonder if, as a tight-knit bunch, we sometimes get a bit too frustrated and have too little tolerance? It's like a family; we see a lot of each other and so we maybe lash out a bit too easily on occasion?

I really like GR. I do sometimes get annoyed... but I guess that can happen in any type of social gathering. Overall, for me there are way more positives than negatives. It's not perfect but, hey, what is?*

* I'm not looking for examples to be posted here  .

I think I'm in the minority of people here that don't consider this a games forum. I rarely venture into the Games folder and whilst games might have been the reason I signed up to the original, now dead, GamesRadar, but I keep coming back here simply because I like and enjoy being part of the community. We probably aren't going to reach the heights of Driv3rgate, or Snap DS or whatever again, partly because of lack of new members, partly because our core userbase has aged and we simply have more responsibilities and less free time. People come and go, some return after time away, some get sick of it and stay away. It's life. The biggest problem we have is the recruitment side of things which various people are and have been trying for a while to improve. Considering the fact that we have had our fair share of melters over the years, I don't think there is anyone here I dislike a great deal and I'd probably say this place has influenced how I see things to a small degree. The sheer amount of decent advice, help (sans relationship thread) and life experiences you can gleam from people here is tremendous.

Very few other people here appear to care about most of my main interests (cricket, gamecube, poker) but I don't let it stop me posting. There's a better chance of someone joining in with a discussion if they see me posting than seeing nobody post about it. I played the second level in Killer7 last night and it was strawberry floating weird – and I'm going to post about it later despite the fact nobody will probably give a gooseberry fool – but somebody might.

All in all I'm pretty happy with the place. Through this community I've made real life friendships with a good number of people. The only thing I'd really like to see change is the lack of new blood.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I can't tell if that's genuine surprise or not. :slol: I've had them for years, my friend bought me a couple after I made fun of him for owning them. I'm literally 100% sure this was a big joke on Mumble at the time.

No I recall that, but there is a difference between 'my friend bought me something horrendous as a vector for mental torment' and 'I collect dolls now'.

Karl I say this because I care, I think you need an intervention.

Nah Karl, you are always a real hoot on mumble!

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.

I haven't bought any anime dolls(!), but if you want to hold an intervention, I do for-real own a Haruhi doujinshi - not a pervy one, though I realise it's bad that I even have to specify that - which I bought with my own money at a nerd convention. I feel this probably worse on the weeaboo scale than buying a fig.

I won some anime figures from UFO catchers which doesn't technically count as buying them and they were Sega related so pretty sure this exhonerates me :shifty:

If this thread has achieved anything it is the outing of the anime doll owning weirdos.

Twice a day does not count as "hardly ever".

I think I saw some imgur album once of some guy who kept either an anime figurine (or possibly My Little Pony) in some jar in his bedroom that he continually spunked into over months until the figure was submerged entirely.

At least, I hope I saw that. Because that gooseberry fool is so strawberry floating rank, that if my brain just invented it, I'm heading for therapy.

Hell, now that I think about it, I think there's actually a subreddit or something dedicated to pictures of jizz-covered anime figurines.

No, he tried to that - but then his mother put it on the radiator and it all evapourated and the remainder went solid. It was very sad.

You should google 'hot gluing'.

It's "cummingonfigurines", IIRC. No need to thank me.

It's why I've loved more recently with people like Pedz, Devlin and Dragon coming on more often as the atmosphere is completely different with certain people.

Well, it is a bit creepy us 20+ year olds hanging out on a chat program with a 12 year old ;)
