I haven't played DS2 or Sekiro, but I love the others.

I've managed to complete DS3 and Demon's Souls. Never got past Ornstein and Smough in DS1 (although I've just started a new game tonight).

I loved Bloodborne when I originally played it, but I recently tried to go back and found the frame rate really off-putting. I'm really hoping for a Bluepoint remake or sequel.

I'd probably rate them 1 > Demons > 3 > Bloodborne.

I do not have the time to git gud at these kinds of games so I don't like any of them.

You're welcome for my thoughtful and meaningful contribution to this topic.

Of the ones I've played... Sekiro. That's how I'd rank them.

Yeah, those two were my nemesis in the game as well, Yoshimi. It's great to hear that you're gonna go back and tackle them again - remember to keep us updated with your progress in the GRcade Plays... Soulsborne thread :-).

I would love to see a sequel to Bloodborne but, failing that, a remake (a la Demon's) would be ace!

Oh! That's a shame, Skarjo, as they can be so rewarding. They're tough but perhaps not as impossible as they first appear; as I've said before, if I can get up to Smaugh & Ornstein in Souls then I suspect most gamers could!

Sekiro sure does look to be a fast and fluid entry in the series, OSC. Have you been tempted to try the older titles at all?

I did admittedly get on aesthetically with Bloodborne for the few hours I put in, and I reckon if I was 15 and had the time I would have loved it, but I genuinely get precious little time to game these days and punishingly difficult games are just a time sink I can’t afford. C’est la vie.

Since I'm starting another Dark Souls run, I decided I'd finally buy the Remastered PS4 version.

Already have the OG on PC, and the Switch port, but looking forward to playing in 1800p60 and seeing the graphical improvements.

I do have Bloodborne, but I haven't played it enough to form an opinion and place it in my rankings. I like the look of Elden Ring and may well get that when it's out.
One of the stupid reasons I've kept away from the Dark Souls games is how drab and visually uninteresting I find them.
May get the Demon's Souls remake at some point if the price is right.

Cool, Yoshimi - that's the version that I have and it runs pretty well.

OldSoulCyborg wrote:I do have Bloodborne, but I haven't played it enough to form an opinion...

It's definitely worth a look, OSC. The gameplay is a wee bit speedier than Souls.

It does look to be ace, doesn't it? It'll be great to have such a big title arrive early in the year.

I guess visual tastes are always gonna vary. For me, I like the gothic, historic feel but, yes, the colouring is often grey-ish and dark.

I'm not sure what price you're after, OSC - and I think you're outside of the UK? - but I just got the game for a few pence over £39 from ShopTo.

1. Demon's Souls (PS3) - I like how relatively linear the map is
2. Dark Souls 2
3. Dark Souls 3
4. Dark Souls
5. Bloodborne - too scary & locations all look the same

Dark Souls
Bloodborne
-
Sekiro
-
Dark Souls 3
Dark Souls II

ive put gaps to illustrate the gulf in my liking for these
DS1 and BB are far and away some of my favourite games of all time
Sekiro was a solid game but i have no real interest in 100% it or replaying any time soon
DS3&2 i have been unable to finish - they just dont interest me or keep me playing

Demon's Souls i have never had a chance to play :(

Why's that then?

If it's about Bloodborne, I think it has brilliant worldbuilding, I just didn't enjoy playing it. I have never willingly parried in a Dark Souls game, so it just wasn't my cup of tea unfortunately. Enjoyed watching others play it though!

I spent a long time in BB not parrying, I wouldn’t say it’s essential to the combat. It is generally a more aggressive game though, the move away from blocking as an option can be hard to take if your play style was previously heavy on it.

Was almost tempted to pick up Sekiro in the current Steam sale but it’s still a touch on the expensive side for me

Yeah, I realise there is some choice in how to play - parry less and/or more, switch from this saw to that saw, etc. - but if your thing is Havel cosplay then there isn't really an equivalent unfortunately! It's OK - I've still enjoyed the game in the sense that I've had fun seeing Aaron play it!

I couldn't quite picture Havel so I looked him up:

I don't think I saw the guy during my Dark Souls run... apparently he can be found "at the bottom of the spiral watchtower leading up to the Taurus Demon in the Undead Burg, guarding the entrance to Darkroot Basin".

He sounds to be a bit of a beast!

Is General Vibe an optional boss, I don't remember him?
