Deadwood is my #1, I can't see it being topped.

I like a lot but the notable top bunch are:

Band of Brothers
Cowboy Bebop
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The Shield (I need to rewatch this. Just a grimy and disgusting series but I first saw it from the ages of 12-15  I imagine a lot went over my head)
True Detective S1
Twin Peaks

My podium would probably be some combination of:

Mr Robot
Fargo (Season 2)
Breaking Bad

Which show gets which medal probably just depends on what sort of mood i'm in. Honourable mentions to Cowboy Bebop too if we're willing to stray away from the bigger budget TV drama shows.

\o It's genuinely the one TV series where I'd be really hard pushed to find fault in it. Even the other shows I listed had things I didn't like (Quantum Leaps weak final season and awful ending, TNG's weak start) but my only major criticism for Farscape was how the TV series ended. But then we got a great made for TV movie that wrapped it all up nicely so all is forgiven :toot:

While I'm here, I'd like to add Babylon 5 and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to my list too.

Oh, ok here goes.

In no particular order.

Star Trek, TNG
No explanation is needed here.

Battlestar Galactica remake
This gripped me from the start with great characters, special effects and a coherent story that didn't include to much filler.

Fringe
Just an out and out great show with one of the best characters ever in Walter Bishop, an old scientist with zero filter between brain and mouth :slol: .

12 Monkeys
A fantastic and often overlook time travel series that because it was on Sci-Fi channel nobody watched because they do strawberry float all advertising.

ER
Well, it's ER.

Chernobyl
Wonderful acting and a gripping story.

Warehouse 13.
A show about mysterious artefacts with characters who are funny and I actually gave a gooseberry fool about.

Dark Matter
A show Sci-Fi channel cancelled for no reason because they again failed to promote it and they didn't even bother showing in the UK so I had to buy the US DVD.
It was a solid sci-fi show with again a good story.

Archer
It's just funny even if it did dip a bit for a while in later series and I'm looking forward to next season.

Travellers
Another time travel show but this time the travellers take over the body of people now to help avert a disaster that will cripple the future.
Surprisingly good given what may be seen as a pretty standard plot device.

Ok then.
I love TNG because the cast was almost universally great and the show had a habit of doing some absolutely outstanding episodes.
Many episodes are rewatchable time and time again and while it had good special effects that wasn't the main draw. ]
The show really did set the standard for the genre that even newer versions of Trek have failed to live up to even if the format is a tad outdated now.

For someone whose never seen Sci-Fi before it's a good starting point although I may recommend Battlestar Galactica or even Fringe for people who demand newer shows.

I'm working through TNG at the moment. I'm not convinced it'd ever make my list of top shows, but it's far from bad.

Warehouse 13 was brilliant, was like an even more batshit crazy version of Fringe. Never took itself too serious either.

That was part of its charm.
They knew it was a stupid concept and went with it but not to the point of absurdity.
They also seemed to like the UK with characters and episodes set here.

I don't know the actor's name but HG Wells was in it.
Had a decent part and was in quite a few episodes.

I've not seen that, Komanda, but I believe it heavily influenced the Deadly Premonition game which I do like. Good to see you back posting in GR, too :-).

It gets so many positive comments but I felt it more than lived up to that hype, to.

Yeah, it worked out well as season 4 didn't have any of that "oh, we're ending" vibe and then, as you say, we got that great wrap-up episode. Excellent!

Wow! I think this is the first post where I've not seen any of the series chosen, Peter! Which is all good as it's nice to see what other folk have checked out.

Most of my favourite shows have been mentioned in here already... One that's missing is Six Feet Under; it had a great ending too.

Argh darn it. I wanted to like Warehouse 13 a lot, but I gave up in Season 2 I think - whenever they introduced fem!H.G. Wells. The main characters seemed to lose development, and the spunky female assistant with the dyed hair irked me no end. It's a really great idea for a show, essentially the SCP Archive but dramedy, and I wanted to like it. Does it get better?

Sci-Fi channel are honestly the worst for advertising their series or even just sticking with any success they have.
The channel even managed to cancel The Expanse after 3 seasons, they're a bunch of idiots.
They often have really good shows that they don't share with the UK sci-fi channel so it's no wonder you've not watched a lot of their stuff.

It's honestly baffling.

Yep, it improves quite a bit and the characters really grow in the later seasons.
The comedy is ever so slightly toned down but still there and I think they add a few more team members who aren't in series 1 and 2.

It certainly kept me watching and I think the whole thing is on Now TV or maybe Prime?
