I don't game nearly as much as I used to and If I do then it's mostly older titles on my gaming PC. Days Gone is the most recent title I play on it, but that's only because I love the game and no longer own a PS4.

I do have a second, smaller PC in the living room and while new it was cheap as chips and doesn't come with a dedicated gaming GPU as I bought said PC predominantly for my music writing. (i7-10700, 8GB RAM, Intel 630 GPU). I have installed a few classic retro games from GoG and Steam as it can cope with the older titles (Alan Wake running at the Xbox 360 equivalence is about as much as it can push)

I picked up a Series S for Game Pass, but I only switch it on a few times a month. All other systems I've either boxed up or sold.

*edit* Almost forgot, I do now have a Switch but only two games for the system. BotW and Bayonetta 2, the latter of which is still sealed in its box. Switch games are just too expensive for me.

Switch the most, followed by PS4/PS5.

I've played Monster Hunter Rise for 115 hours and Monster Hunter Stories 2 for 60 and counting. Mario Maker 2 went from 255 hours played at the end of last year to 390 hours played, so that's another 135 hours thanks almost completely to AYAMMM. Animal Crossing I played for 655 hours last year and I'm currently up to 740, which is another 85 hours. Other still significant time sinks are Game Builder Garage at 30 hours, and Samurai Jack and New Pokemon Snap both over 10 hours.

On PS4 I was still playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla at the start of the year. I finally finished it in March with over 130 hours on the clock. Otherwise I've played a lot of Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer, but that's fallen away in the last couple of months.

On PS5, which we only got a couple of months ago, I've put the most time into Hitman 3. Astrobot is great but short, and Ratchet hasn't grabbed me so is just trundling along. I need to go find where you can track time played on the PS5!

PC by far for me. I played a decent amount of Valheim and Apex Legends earlier in the year, bit of Squad, Battlefield 2 and 4, Hearts of Iron IV, and Rimworld. Tried WoW Classic and Eve Online for a couple weeks, the latter being a former shadow of a once great game imo. Recently bashed through the They are Billions campaign and now delving into FFXIV.

Haven't really played my Switch in all honesty. I started Astral Chain earlier in the year but at the time needing to concentrate to play the game properly, and the room being a bit miserable, kept me from wanting to play more. I've probably dabbled with Into The Breach a few times as well. Think I finally unlocked all the teams.

Broke out my PSP a couple of months ago and have been putting in a few hours each week into a new file on Tactics Ogre. The best turn-based RPG I have ever played. It does have its flaws though (crafting :dread:) but there's a mod out there that has completely reworked the class and weapon system to create a new challenge. I might look into getting it installed as some of the classes and weapons in base Tactics Ogre are just a bit underwhelming and it feels a bit gooseberry fool playing with them when I could just have two Archers wreck everything.

Gemini! :o :toot: . It's good to see you back here, man! I'm glad to hear that things are going better and that you've been learning guitar. I took a couple of breaks whilst you were off, too. Fresh starts and all that :-).

I know that one has to buy a PS5 to check PS4 gaming times. Maybe you have to wait for PS6 now? ;-).

Got a bit fed up of carting the switch back and forwards from my dad's gaff to the other halfs so just took the little Chinese retro handheld , played an hour on AVP the arcade game and a few megadrive games last night, found I didn't really miss the switch at all, this might mean switch play time drops and retro time goes up.

It's an interesting statistic, mhtl! Looking at the threads and discussions, my feeling was that, here in GR, more people are on board with Xbox now than last gen. I think it's a good thing that both formats are strong as this will encourage more competition... which is better for all of us!

Even so, I do suspect that it's mainly hardcore players who already have one of the new consoles. With the console costs and game prices being what they are, I do wonder if the overall active userbase will be smaller than last gen for quite some time.

Although it's anecdotal, I can see a change in Xbox coverage when it comes to the gaming press, I presume it's Gamepass that's pushing this change but it's the first time since the 360 that the brand itself is seen in a good light.

Misstep of wanting to increase the price of Gold aside (which was rescinded within hours), PR wise, Xbox has been on point with it's messaging and laying out it's plans for the future pretty much since the Series Console's launched, it's been like a reset of the entire gaming arm of MS.

I've noticed this too. Sure there's some pushback against Game Pass from small pockets of the community with regards to "ownership", but GP's growing popularity backed by a solid drive from MS and now open support by the press has made such complaints seem rather futile. It's clear that MS, like Nintendo, are heading off in their own direction and Sony's more traditional approach to gaming is of little relevance to Microsoft's larger plan. I bought a Series S and a 4TB external drive purely for the full GP experience and I personally think it's one of the best gaming investments I've ever made.
