I'm an outraged PC player and even though I know it isn't a games console I want to make it clear that it is the best gaming platform ever. Console peasants shouldn't even get a vote.

Ooh! That's an unusual system to hear of, Outrunner. The pre-cursor to the Master System, I believe, with very similar tech?

The SG-1000 definitely paved the way via the Mk II amd MK III (which was essentially a Master System). It's a nice console to have in my collection. I'm fortunate to have 2 due to in ill-advised bidding war on ebay :fp:

Ah! You got caught up in the heat of the moment, Outrunner? A side-effect of eBay!

I voted for N64, GameCube and Switch. If I think back to my happiest memories many were formed on the 64 and Cube.

The Switch has become a favourite because of the adaptability, plus it's opened a world of indie games I would never otherwise have touched. Also it responsible for getting me into Farming/Life Sims through Stardew Valley, which is now one of my favourite genres!

Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox 360, with the Gamecube closely snapping at the hypothetical heels of all three.

All four are incredible in their own ways though.

I am not sure, I voted SNES as that's where most of my favourite games live. But I would also put PS2, Sega Saturn and Xbox One X up there too.

Yeah! I'd already bought one a few months prior, got into a stupid bidding war (god knows why! it was more expensive and didn't even come boxed) and ended up praying someone would outbid me. Obviously I paid up, I'm not an ebay dick, I figured at the very least I'd break even by selling it later. I know they sometimes go for crazy prices so I see it as investment.

SNES [and Super Play], N64 [and N64 Mag], GameCube [and NGC Magazine] for me, four player N64 and GameCube some of the best times gaming gathering your mates for weekend sessions. Dying for a good N64 solution for HDMI TV’s that isn’t more than £300, hopefully there’ll be a good clone console soon.

SNES would have to be my best if I had to chose though because of it’s library and number of quality games.

Probably the gamecube and the wii. Bonus points because the wii can play GC games, and so all together it has a really fantastic library.

Great question, do I go N64 for nostalgia, no! some great games but only a handful which goes the same for the gamecube! what about the Switch, dual use and a bunch of great games......mmmmm nearly
PS5 is too early but PS4 and pro probably comes in up there but that was a loud console but a great library of games as well as Xbox 360 but that broke and I went through 4, YES 4 of them.

Nes was my first proper console and I loved it, the Snes improved on it and I loved the colourful buttons on the controller and console design. Megadrive was good but it was never as good as the Snes and much can be said about most of the Sega consoles I have owned.
Wii was great and got lots of non games involved but looking back most of the controls were just a gimmick.

So it's probably down to PS2 or PS1 for me. PS1 had some of my favorite games but it's going to have to be the PS2 for me. Great games, great launch, comfortable controller, Slim improved with a quieter system and it hid away to be barely seen.

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

I love loads of consoles. Can't wait to get a Vita back in my life soon. I didn't pick the PS1 even though that's the console that got me back into gaming after a 5 - 10 year hiatus.

The Intellevision was my first console, what a piece of garbage that was. Thankfully I had my C64 and ZX Spectrum to help me forget it was in the same room as me.

Intellevision, the Covid of gaming devices.

Ps I edited my vote from Other to PS1 as I realised there was a separate handheld vote.

Looking down that list, the only ones I didn't own were the Master System, the Intellivision and the Xbox One.

Oh, and the PS5 to date.

All of the others have really great memories attached, in different ways. So actually, my favourite can change on any given day.

For example, I know the Saturn bombed, but it was the first place I played Resident Evil, so I associate it with that, and a stack of 2D shooters like Parodius which were well ahead of their time and rarely bettered.

They also each bring me back to a different time in my life - Atari 2600 to early childhood, NES later childhood, PS and N64 to houseshare days, 360 to playing online when I'd bought my first house and had no housemates to play with. N64 to one amazing Christmas, when I got it for myself with SM64 and Goldeneye.

It's really impossible to pick a favourite - it's a bit like asking what your favourite period of life was, because for a long time gamer consoles are so synonymous with those stages.

E.g. I loved my houseshare, but I currently love living in a house that isn't covered in mould. Loved my teenage years, but like having my own pocket money now. Love that the Series S and Stadia got me through the last 6 months of Covid, but don't much like Covid. Hmm.

Maybe I'll look back on the current lot in years to come and realise they were my favourites as they were almost literally lifesavers. Or maybe I'll look back on consoles I played in sunnier times more fondly because of that, if that makes any sense.

I definitely have the most nostalgia for the 360 but the red ring killed five of mine and so I just can't call it my favourite.

I'll just go with my PS5 for now.

SNES - In terms of sheer number of hours PC is the obvious answer because it's been providing me with great experience for 27 years now, but with that out of the picture the SNES is probably the system I've played the most, and still continue to play.

Amazing system, with an amazing library of games.

Gamecube for me, a lot of my favourite console games of all time are on that console. I played it so much.

Machine is definitely PC though, but that's not a console.
