Ooh! And you pick up an MSX with that, too, Balla! This is you chance to experience the format that allowed different manufacturers to create their own computers that shared compatible games. I guess it was like PCs, really, but it was a cool idea that - alas! - never really took off.

I always liked the look of Toshiba's HX-10 MSX system. A lovely, chunky design!

The only option that hasn't been selected so far is Atari Lynx | PlayStation Vita | Xbox One! I'd thought that was quite a nice set; the Lynx was pretty powerful for a portable system at that time, the Vita was revered by some folk and the One wasn't a bad system, enjoying a big game range.

One person has even gone for the Virtual Boy | N-Gage | Amico option :o  .

Which two packs did you go for, Dan? It sounds like you'll be trying a lot of systems out for the first time!

I went for C64 / Wii U / PS3, and Atari 800XL / OG Xbox / PS5.

Save for the OG Xbox, I've never owned any of these systems, so it'd be good to hoover up the classics. The OG Xbox is one I couldn't justify keeping but it'd certainly be a "nice to have" if I was to suddenly be gifted six consoles; particularly if it came in that lovely Crystal model.

...hmm, just realised my choices have left me without a way of playing Rare Replay, possibly my most wanted game that's only on consoles I don't own. Might have gotten this wrong!

I love the Wii U and one day I would like to be able to give it a vote in one of 'Jawa ask'...but again not today (honestly some of you guys are the fans Nintendo needs but doesn't deserve  ).

Went for the Switch and Playstation 5 options - but wouldn't have much use for whatever a MSX is and some of the other stuff included. Playstation 5 because you can access most of Playstations previous gen back catalogue, was very tempted by the Wii U because you can access most of Nintendos backlog spanning decades but for some reason went for the Switch where you can't access much backlog except for the Wii U... at £49.99 per piece :datass:

Went for the one that included the Switch, solely for the Switch's mobility and good library. Disappointed that Steam Deck wasn't included in any options though.

Oh, yeah, now we're talking! That OG Xbox crystal and the OG Xbox translucent green :datass: .

I'm in this situation too; I made my choices but - dang! - some of the other options look hot, too!

I do love the U but more so for Miiverse (chatting with pals and drawing!) than the actual games. It had a pretty compact but very cool game library - I'm starting to think I made a mistake in taking out of my current setup. Maybe it'll pop back sometime.

I tried to setup the options so that for every newer system there would be an older one, too; something that folk may not know too much about. Here in GR we have a spread of ages with a fair number of older folk - but plenty who probably weren't around to use the 8-bit (or even 16-bit in some cases!) systems. Games on these old machines are obvs gonna look pretty pony compared to modern stuff, but they're ace for giving a sense of how tech has advanced over a relatively short time period. I'm always intrigued by GRcadians like Jazzem and Kriken who weren't around when these older consoles were in their prime but who have still played (and enjoyed, in many cases!) the older games in current times. Tremendous stuff!

Ah! I'd wondered about this, Zilnad! I find it hard to include the PC in these type of things; because it has been around for so long and it has evolved so much, it seems difficult to tie it down to a particular time or type of tech. In this case, if I just put "PC" I think it'd be hard to *not* choose it as it has had such a wealth of games overall. But... if it was included, would it win every time - almost as a default? I do often joke about this with some of the options when it has been included in past jawa asks :-).

Atari 2600 | Amiga 1200 | Xbox 360
Acorn Archimedes | Sega Multi-Mega | PlayStation

Both these give a really good cover of the mid 80' and 90's. The Amiga and Acorn are probably the standouts along with the PS1 just for the variety of games available that I would play. The original Elite, Dune 2, FF7, FF8, Grand Tourismo, MGS, the list goes on and on.

Xeno, definitely, those two packs certainly do offer a great range of games to play. It's great seeing different folk making different choices from the systems on offer; there's probably not a bad one - bar that last comedy selection :-).
