Also dug SEGA Rally back out on PS3 this past year, and that’s fantastic as well. Maybe a bit too much rubber banding AI on later tracks, and the lack of rumble is a shame, but like Outrun just feels so great and easy to play. Gaming without the need for extreme concentration or having to memorise 100 different button combinations on a controller.

Much along the same lines, Ridge Racer from Namco, Destruction Derby and WipEout from Sony, and Project Gotham Racing from Microsoft.

Can’t say I have much faith in any of these ever coming back as new games however, as where are the devs with the experience? Unless you’re Gran Turismo the bottom has also dropped out of the racing game market.

You sure have highlighted some excellent, classic arcade-style racers there, KK. As soon as I saw that you had posted I was expecting Destruction Derby to get a mention! I'd like to see all of these titles return; especially Ridge Racer.

Ah! That does seem to be a bit of a cult character, shy guy. Did you try the 3DS version?

Both of them

Ah! I knew about Zip Lash but not Photo Finder. It's neat that you have both of 'em.

The Japan only DS game is the only one of the five I’ve not played

Was you able to pick up the amiibo figurine, shy guy? You can praise Chibi-Robo :datass: .

Another old-school classic there, Victor! You're right, the gameplay did kinda act as an early Metroidvania.

You may already be aware but the original coders, The Oliver Twins, produced a new Dizzy adventure for the ZX Spectrum in late 2020. Click here to check out Wonderful Dizzy.

I was not aware of that! Excellent.

Would like to see a return of Maximo

The 2 games on PS2 were good fun, would like a HD collection with some QoL additions followed by a new entry. Along the same lines, would also want a return of Viewtiful Joe

You've picked out two very cool Capcom games there, Milner. I think Maximo was meant to really push the PS2? Viewtiful Joe had some very stylish artwork, too, and potentially that could look lovely in crisp HD.

Did SEGA file in for a new OutRun last year?

Anyway...

I'd love to have Freedom Fighters back, but I doubt it will ever happen at all. I loved it when it was on the PS2 or GameCube.

DriveClub.
Motorstorm.

They could make a new game that has better physics and GRcade race every Sunday. I miss that.

Splinter Cell. It's been mentioned in the previous post and it's coming this year or 2025. It should be good.

Oh, man, yeah. Both of those should never have even gone :-(. Imagine if DriveClub made a return!

Katamari!

I'm really gutted that there hasn't been an upgrade to the game engine since I first played this on PlayStation 2.

Just imagine a new game, made from the ground up for the current generation of consoles. I want to roll the world!

I like your enthusiasm for Katamari, Sprouty! It could be a good fit for a new title too; use the newer tech to create a physics engine that allows even larger objects to be rolled!
