Just breaking now:

https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/04/20 ... evelopment

The news of Kaplan's departure is shocking, and it was revealed when the company took to the Blizzard Blog to detail the change in leadership for Overwatch going forward. Though he is leaving the Overwatch community as the game'sdirector, Blizzard promises fans that Overwatch 2 is continuing in its development under the helm of Aaron Keller. Keller is a founding member of the Overwatch team, and he will be taking over Kaplan's role going forward.

Kaplan WAS Overwatch to a lot of people. I remember when I was playing regularly he was such a huge part of the culture around the game that I actually can't think of any other live game so centered around a single figure.

Blizzard are absolutely bleeding top talent recently, and you can hardly blame those who are choosing to bail. They've gone from the sweetheart of the industry to comic book villains over the course of 10 years, almost entirely thanks to the Activision merger.

OH WELL.

Honestly Blizzard died a very long time ago, they've been limping forward but the Blizzard that cared about it's staff and it's communities died a good number of years ago thanks to the constant meddling of Activision. It sucks :/

One of the greatest pleasures over the past few years has been watching post-Activision Destiny blossom to become the game it always could have been. Free from that company's relentless greed it's really begun to shine.

So is there even anybody left from the old days or is Blizzard just full horrific-flesh-mimic now?
