Or an even closer an analogy (in fact it's not an analogy - it's the way it is).

You punch someone and go and work for one of your company's subcontractors.

Subbys are paid for a "service" - not specific people. I have two contractors working for me. They are brilliant - but I am in no way allowed to express opinion or influence over which people fill their responsibilities. In theory, if the agency says they want to send someone else, they can.

The fact that if that happened I would immediately say, "fine, I just won't bother at all" is what I meant about the fact that there was likely a row behind the scenes.

I suspect Hatrick pushed the line of "we've booked him and we can;t afford to cancel - accept it or we'll pull the episode".

The last show is airing in NZ tomorrow (I watched it via the internet ages ago). Makes me sad again that it is axed. Those 5 (presenters, Stig & BBC) were so good together. I also feel sorry for the producer, I bet he didn't want this to happen. God damn you BBC.

He pulled out of HIGNFY!!!!

THis is beyond parody (But probably the right thing to do - Hattrick did leave the door open again though).

God damn the BBC, how dare they go around punching producers in the face and blaming it on that sweet sweet angel Jeremy.

Digital Spy wrote:The BBC is to air unseen Top Gear footage featuring axed presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

BBC Two controller Kim Shillinglaw confirmed that the final three episodes of the motoring series will be shown by the broadcaster.

The episodes, which were filmed before Clarkson was sacked in March, were previously shelved following the presenter's 'fracas' with producer Oisin Tymon.

Speaking about the footage, Shillinglaw said: "There is no way I would not want the available material not to be seen by viewers.

"Top Gear is a show that I love, I genuinely watch it and I always have done."

Shillinglaw also confirmed that Top Gear would return in a new form next year.

"We have got a great in-house team that has always made it and will continue to make it," she said at a BBC event on Tuesday.

Speaking about future presenters, she continued: "I am not really thinking about it in terms of gender.

"I have done a lot with female presenters when I used to work in science. That was something that across the piece that I really wanted to tackle. It's a really open book on that.

"We will definitely look at women but it is not the driving priority. I have never approached an individual show thinking that is the way you cast it.

"It's not been an easy year but it's kind of creatively exciting what we are going to do, what we have to do. We have got to move the show on. That's what we are going to do."

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he was coping with a possible cancer scare two days before the incident that saw him lose his Top Gear gig.

He thought he had cancer because his doctor told him that he "probably" had it? Sounds like either he has a gooseberry fool doctor, is making it up or he misunderstood/misheard the doctor.

Either way, thinking you have a serious health problem is not an excuse to assault somebody because you can't have a hot dinner.

Not an excuse, but whilst under severe mental strain it is hardly surprising there was a reaction.

I don't want to sound heartless, but everyone has gooseberry fool going on in their lives - not everyone deals with it by punching a bloke.

I have known quite a few people that have had cancer and some that have feared cancer and not one of them have reacted to the horror of a cold dinner by punching someone.

Well yeah, most people don't act like Clarkson did.

I'm more surprised that this story about a fat, foul mouthed, racist banana split that's been sacked from a strawberry floating TV show is still running.... that's a lot more concerning.

I was told I could have cancer last year for quite a few months and it really does one to your head. Sure, I never punched anyone but it probably effected my life in ways I wouldn't like. Stress is never black and white, and I guess we'll never know quite how he was feeling at the time.

Such a bullshit excuse. There was a high likelihood I had cancer not so long ago, didn't hit anyone. Didn't actually care that much either so I'm probably a bit of an exception thanks to my apathetic nature. Still, it's no excuse.

I can easily imagine aggression being a natural response for some people being told they might have cancer, with the cold dinner incident just being the final little thing to make someone snap.

It was an over reaction, but given that he was in the middle of a cancer scare I think the BBC have been a bit harsh, assuming they knew of course.
