FX renews 'Justified' for season 5

FX has renewed "Justified" for a fifth season, to debut in January 2014.

The renewal was announced at FX's upfront presentations for advertisers this morning in New York.

"It remains one of the most consistently excellent shows on TV," said FX president John Landgraf.

"Justified" remains one of FX's most successful series, but the network has always taken its time with announcing renewals, particularly for older shows where the contracts become more complicated with each passing year. There was never a doubt "Justified" would be back; it was just a question of when the announcement would be.

The fourth season finale airs this Tuesday night at 10.

Now we just have to wait 9 months for it to come back on. That's going to be a long 9 months.

How does the latest season compare to previous?

That was a great finale, but a very different one! The lack of a season BIG BAD meant it played out totally different to past seasons which was a good thing in my book. The final scene in Arlo's house :wub:

Better than season 3, season 3 wasn't as good as season 2 IMO. Might put 4 above 2 as well, need to re-watch.

The exploding meth lab in S1 was pretty good too but yep, that scene was incredible.

In terms of seasons I'd say 2>3>4>1. The lack of a main antagonist harmed the early episodes until Nicky turned up.

I was a bit disappointed with season 4 but the last few episodes were a big improvement. I much prefer seasonal arc storylines.

Download season 1-3 of this last night. I had started watching this show ages ago, back when Chalky was raving about it, but somehow I ended up not continuing on. Now to figure out where I left off....

Probably early in season 1. It takes a while for season 1 to get good.

But it had a season long arc. Pretty sure there were no standalones this season.

Just didn't have a main bad guy.

Up to ep 9 and loving this season so far.

The escape from Harlon ended with a bit of a whimper though

Just finished, great season, possibly my favourite yet.

Probably my second favourite after 2.
