That is the impression I got too from my first hour of playing... Its nothing groundbreaking, but its a nice little game... it felt like a 7

This is helpful, thank you. I'm keen to support the game, but it feels like one that will get a 40% price drop by the new year and isn't an urgent must play.

I doubt it will go down that low considering its already cheapish. Id say if you are looking for an action adventure game for your ps5 (although its out on ps4 too) keep an eye on it.

It is a lovely looking game, and the combat comes into its own once you get wome powerups and the bow...

And once again I ll repeat you can buy hats for your rot thingies

Enjoying it so far. Very simple opening that doesn't require much thought but it looks charming. Paused just as things open a little. It's clearly not very big but I hope it doesn't remain quite so linear.

It’s truly opened up now and I’m finding it utterly wonderful. I do really get the PS2 action adventure comparison, who ever said that, as the mechanics are quite basic but they all work beautifully. With the visuals and world design it combines to make quite the alluring package. And honestly it makes me wonder why more studios don’t do more limited scope projects and get them out quicker. How long would it take to make Majoras Mask from scratch these days?

You can definitely see the Majoras Mask inspiration these guys have had but a Zelda lite this is definitely not. I’m getting more of a Banjo Kazooie vibe in all honesty, crossed with something like Lost Winds (which I adored too). On the story front I’m a bit surprised that at the moment it feels rather generic Tibetan natural mysticism. That’s not bad and I’m definitely enjoying it but so far it definitely lacks the depth of its clear Majoras Mask inspiration.

There’s so much to play around with at the moment that I’m just thoroughly enjoying exploring the world and mechanics because it’s a joy to inhabit. The rot are predictably cute and being able to give them little hats to personalise them is just too much  There seems to be lots of hidden things in the environment and I can’t wait till I have the mechanics to interact with them all. It may be a short story but it feels like there’s plenty for the completionist here.

Overall, wonderful first few hours where the game has unfolded before me majestically. Could easily have kept going till the wee hours if I didn’t have work in the morning.

I echo this sentiment, once the game opens up its a joy to just wander around ... I played over 5 hours yesterday trying to get as many collectable as I can. I can see myself getting well over 20hours of gameplay from this.

I didn't realise this was on PS4. It looks wonderful on PS5, but how does it run on PS4?

This hasn’t quite opened out how I’d hoped. It presents you with what seems like a big open area but really there’s only one linear path through and a lot of the time the game doesn’t really have you doing anything other than just walking down it.

The puzzles so far may as well be non existent, the combat is too few and far between as it is fun when you do get to do it. The story also hasn’t really progressed much and what little exists is more of an atmosphere than an actual story.

Don’t get me wrong it’s still lovely to play but after the charm of the visuals where off a bit you start to wish some of that effort had gone into game design.

I can't understand how anyone would give this less than an 8 it's absolutely marvelous. The combat has the BotW field, though obviously not as deep, wherein you can play around and try fight cool. The only problem is it doesn't seem quite balanced right and the lock on function is pretty gash. Fights that could be Souls Bourne in quality are over too quickly as both you and the enemies hit too hard. When there's multiple on screen the camera is also incredibly sluggish which when coupled with the poor lock on makes rotating between enemies, sloth like.

The world exploration is superb getting to clear places of rot makes things seem bigger than they are as you get to go through in run down versions and also lush green version. Honestly, populate this with NPCs quests and a bit more depth and you'd see a lot of 10s for this.

The other major issue is the upgrades and economy aren't really anything more than an after thought. You get cash for exploring but there's nothing to spend it on other than meaningless hats for photo mode. It's the most pointless reward for exploration I've seen in a long time. The combat upgrades just don't have enough depth either and feel like things that have been taken away from the base level than genuine additions to expand your prowess.

It's easy not to dwell on those flaws though as just jumping around the world and helping the few characters and cleansing the world is fantastic.

More people should be playing this.

Seems to run well from comparisons, at a steady 30fps and looks visually similar.

For whatever reason I was under the impression this was a 12 hour game.

I’m still going strong after what seems like about 20. I’ve been taking my time but not that much, its a surprisingly meaty adventure this.

Don’t understand why no one else is playing this. It’s so good. The way the world unfolds is brilliant and the central village is a proper little maze.

Shame it doesn’t seem to be getting the support on here when £70 releases which do far less and over a shorter length get jumped on.

Just done the second area boss and it was SoulsBourne like in its design and challenge, wonderful stuff.

I'd love to be playing it but five other big games that I want to play released in the past couple of weeks so unfortunately Kena has been lost in the rush.

Same. Should be a good Christmas game. I always seem to play platformers in particular around that time of year dating back to the original Crash Bandicoot. Thoroughly enjoyed playing Sackboy last year with all the decorations up. :datass:

In a good or bad way?

I find it bloody irritating when the last boss is so difficult it's almost impossible to finish the game. One of the things I loved about Sackboy is that it was pretty easy to complete the main story missions, but extremely difficult if you wanted it to be (such as the time trial challenges).
