Downloaded it earlier today but I've not had a chance to properly play it yet. Looks like a good laugh from some YouTube videos I've seen.

Just spent two hours playing this. Great little game.
Managed to get my rocket up to around 280km high. Just need to figure out how to put it into orbit next. After that.... SPACE!

Oh bugger, this looks very much like a game I've designed for iOS. You snooze you lose!

I might develop it anyway...

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Just cracked 100,000m I think I'm getting the hang of this.

What are you meant to do? Put enough engines on to make a good altitude and you can't take off. Put on hardly any and what's the point.

Is there even a goal beyond getting high up?

I've gotten as high as 9000 but doing anything other than a 1 stack or 3 stack makes the thing completely unbalanced. I also feel there aren't enough parts to play with.

Wait, I think I've got the hang of this now:

Is that the Moon?

I peaked at 1201K and now I'm just waiting for my ship to plummet.

Todays attempts:

MK1: Failed, no parachute
MKII: Exploded, no coupler.
MKIII: Reached 9000m, safe landing. Could do better.
MKIV: Still awaiting to fall to Earth. Deployed parachute well too early (on the ascent). Can also improve upon design.

MKV may have proven to be too successful.

Okay, let me explain this:

I'm currently at 6353K travelling at 1640.2m/s
At 1680m/s I took the current distance travelled and noticed my speed was dropping at only 0.2m/s and was decelerating slower and slower.
Considering I don't want to run the program all day, I extrapolated the data and found out that I would reach 14666K when I finally decelerate to 1km/s (1000m/s)
I then checked my calculations against where I was and found that I'm actually going to end up even further away from earth when that speed is reach, as the estimations say at the point of the screenshot I should only have reached 6215K.

With these speeds and such, I don't think my Kerbal team will ever return to earth and will forever drift in space.

Parachute
Capsule
Decoupler
Fuel
Fuel
Liquid Engine
Decoupler
Tri-Coupler
3x Fuel
3x Fuel
3x Liquid Engine

You'll need to increase thrust quite high to take off and then manage your overheating a little, but it should be fine. You'll spend most of your time trying to keep the damn thing pointing upwards but it isn't too tough to do so.

I tried Roon's setup but burned out before reaching the atmosphere. I overheat far too quickly. Got to manage my throttle better. Got higher than I have thus far though, so progress.

Pros don't use extra parts. They make it well too easy to get really far. 8-)

Although my PC crashed so I will never know how far I'll actually have travelled but 40000K would be a conservative estimate. After all, my rate of deceleration had fallen to 0.25m/s last time I checked at 1520m/s and 10000K -ish. I'd escaped Earth's gravity soon enough so I'd probably stop decelerating.
