Sorry, mini bump and not strictly on topic.
Spiral the new one with Will Smith as the detective? Is that one worth a look? Like I say I enjoyed the first Saw film a lot but not the sequels so much. Spiral kind of goes in a different direction doesn't it - more of a whodunit, like going after whoever the copycat or apprentice is delving into the culprits motives etc. I don't like how violent and graphic the earlier sequels were - is this one a little tamer?
Spiral is the new Saw starrng Chris Rock it's more of a whodunit but it is not tamer there is plenty of guts, I should review it.
Thanks
. I'm definitely intrigued but not sure if its a good idea for me to see it...will probably check it out sometime anyway
Made with you in mind chap, my review of Spiral
I finally got round to watching the film Spiral. Great review and glad you enjoyed it so much!
I thought it was alright but I wasn't thrilled with it. I feel bad for complaining about Tobin Bell not being in it, because its meant to be a spin off and go in a different direction but I definitely missed Bell! In fact I probably enjoyed Jigsaw (2017) more - which I really didn't think was great; in Jigsaw I liked that Kramer realised mid-trap that the x-ray op with PTSD didn't deserve to be punished because of an honest mistake, took him under his wing and mentally built him up again.
I must admit the gore in Spiral was a bit much for me and I found myself having to look away a few times! The most interesting stuff in Spiral was the police corruption / brutality commentary. Agreed really solid acting from Chris Rock though, S Jackson was good too!
They're making a Saw 10 due for release Oct 2023 - I wonder if they'll pick up from Spiral or do a more traditional sequel with Kramer appearing in flashback (though the actor is knocking on a bit now) or [yet another] soft reboot or a different kind of spin off
