We all know kids are image obsessed. We have all been there and got the t-shirt but this little story takes the biscuit!

A guy at work was telling me how he drops his kids off for school on the way to work and his daughter kept asked if he could drop her about half a mile from school as she wanted to walk the rest of the way in. It has been going on for about 2 months before they broke up for the summer holidays.

It puzzled him and he asked her about why she wanted to be dropped “so far” from the school gates. He was gob smacked when she said she didn’t want to be seen in her Dad’s “loser cruiser” as she called it.

Seriously, WTF? Do kids get beaten up if their parents don't drive a BMW or a Merc or something?

I thought that sort of thing had been happening for years. I remember you were seen as seriously uncool at my secondary school if you parents picked you up from school and it would result in a lot of mickey taking. I can also remember taking the piss out of my mate when his dad got a skoda. This was around the time that Skoda made their comeback. Nowadays I just think I was an idiot back then as his Skoda was voted car of the year or something.

On the very odd occasion I used to get a lift it didn't bother me as I just laughed at the suckers that had to walk home.

Well, that's not the first time I've heard that story.

I've never experienced that growing up because I've always walked or caught the bus to school.

Depends what he was driving. :P

Celebrity culture is all too much spoken about these days. I propose a ban on all celebrity gossip magazines.

Bitch has got to learn early that if you aren't riding in a good set of wheels, then you face the fist.

Nah it's not kids of today, it's been around for ages. When I were a lad *queue Hovis music* I never wanted to pull up outside of school.

I was never really that bothered about it, but I seem to remember my brother not liking being dropped off right outside the school. I think that was more to do with being dropped off by a parent rather than the specific car they drove.

I think it's important that we are all told what car he drives, so we can decide whether it is, in fact, a loser cruiser. It can be the start of our very own Cool Wall.

I was never dropped off at school. I used to walk or catch a bus. I would meet my mates on my way there.

WELL, when I were a lad *cue Dvorak's "New World" Symphony which those of you less cultured than myself may know as "that music from the Hovis advert"* we walked to school.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I would live to have been picked up from school. Poxy 45 minute bus ride.

But yeah, I can't imagine that that girl was doing anything particularly new, especially if it's in a fairly upper middle class area.

When me and my sister went to high school, she had a problem with it. I didn't though. My sister always asked my dad to turn the radio/tape (yes) off before she opened the door in case everyone heard it. :fp:
