Brrrrrr. Creepy (yet admittedly impressive) stuff indeed.

Bring on PlayStation 5.

With graphics like that though, you can forget games like Manhunt ever making an appearance. The potential for some truly amazing story driven games is going to be absolutely incredible though.

Blimey, that's seriously impressive, do they rig the mesh for you or just give you an animation? I wouldn't fancy setting up the morphers on that.

When are we going to see amazing technology like that applied to fantastical, Pixar-like images? Why does it always have to be photo-realistic?

Because you don't get the uncanny valley on fantastical imagery so it's not really an issue, the problem until now is that humans just didn't look real when computer generated, so they had to be stylised.

I'd like to see the original actress for this though as I'm wandering if it can only be applied to a cg model with a similar face shape to the original actress.

I don't see why near-photorealistic graphics would make videogame developers magically better at telling stories.

Yeah, I thought that. If anything, developers might take less time developing meaningful stories, in favour of spending all their time and money on super-duper graphics.

That's what attracts the masses, see.

And when all the big engines are out there, what then?

Maybe not, but with those graphics you're going to be drawn into the world & get more emotionally attached than you can currently with today's technology.

That's true, but then you need a quality dev like Bioware to make compelling storytelling to accompany it.

As long as I can see the whites of her eyes before firing a rocket launcher at her, I'll be happy.

It could add to the immersion of games by making characters more likable.

You don't need graphics to be emotionally invested in, just character/decent writing.

I really want to see what Rockstar can come up with with technology of that calibre. They did a wonderful job on GTA IV.

One thing is for certain though; the money to make these games is going to be off the scale ridiculous.
