Killer Instinct is so good, so it's nice to see it get some love. Who are you maining, Zilnad?

Well I played through the dojo which defaults to Jago so I've stuck with him for now. I'm eager to try out some other characters though!

I've been absolutely demolished a few times this morning but I've also had some really good back and forths as well. Got my first supreme win as well which was very satisfying. Currently silver rank.

Not sure if matchmaking was just better this morning or if something has clicked for me but I didn't get so brutalised this morning and I've worked my way up from Silver Undisputed to a promotion match into Gold. Loving it.

Promoted to Gold and now just getting my arse handed to me

Might run through the dojo again now I've got a bit more knowledge and experience.

My Gold win rate is currently close to 50% which is double my win rate during Silver. Nice! Went back through the dojo and picked up a few bits that I'd forgotten about after my first introduction (namely combo extenders and shadow counters). Definitely improving a little bit more every morning. I'm considering giving Sabrewulf a try but I think I'll at least stick with Jago until the current rankings reset in 3 days time.

For anyone else that may be interested in getting into this awesome fighter, I've been using this website as an excellent resource for learning the intricacies of the game's systems.

Absolutely! I have a few other fighting games lined up to play but I'll definitely be sticking with Killer Instinct for now.

Ooh! I'm not really a fan of fight games; I find modern ones to be too fast and too complicated, Zilnad. I do like scrolling beat 'em ups (Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, Golden Axe) and retro fighters like Way of the Exploding Fist and IK+, though.

I've played 200 ranked matches as Jago now and I'm sitting comfortably in the bottom Gold tier with a 30% win ratio.

Might reset and try out a new character tomorrow. Possibly Sabrewulf.

Been dabbling with some other characters across the single player content and Orchid seems like a character I could really get into. However, I'm still sticking with Jago during ranked matches as I feel like I'm very gradually getting a better control of him the more I play. My Gold win ratio is still 33% but I'm hoping over the next couple of weeks I start to creep up the rankings.

I'm desperate to get back to SF6 and to even start Guilty Gear -Strive- but I'm just enjoying Killer Instinct way too much to stop now

I've only just discovered the shadow AI thing. Basically you create a character file and then every time you play as that character, you can save the fight data which builds an AI to fight like you. So now I'm saving my data to it after every fight to get the AI as accurate to myself as possible. I've already had plenty of fights this morning against my own AI and it's so cool how accurate it is to my actual play style. It's quite a weird feeling to essentially fight yourself! It feels like a really good tool to spot weaknesses in my own tactics and areas where I'm weak.

What an incredibly cool feature

Had an amazing morning in ranked mode. It was one of those magic moments in fighting games where I suddenly realised I was playing slightly differently and the results were an improved win ratio. I seem to be getting a handle of the opponent characters now and what to expect from them. Which is leading to me being able to play more thoughtfully and take advantage of openings.

I also unlocked an achievement for defeating 10 players with Killer rank in ranked matches, which only 0.8% of players have (according to Steam).

So I'm definitely riding the dopamine after that session

I've been playing every morning for a month now and I've been winning more matches than I've been losing for the past few days. Overall, my win ratio has crept up from 30% to 35%. But for August alone, it's bang on 40%.

I also now have 511 points in Gold Tier, which means I am just over half way to a chance at promotion into Killer Tier. Which is a stark contrast to a couple of weeks ago when I could barely get even 100 points in Gold!

I bloody well did it!

Everything clicked this morning somehow and I was winning fight after fight against some really strong opponents.

Congrats dude, that's quite the achievement in such a short space of time. Took me a lot longer than that.

Apparently I'm now ranked 41 globally

But if there was any chance of that going to my best, this morning's beating has put me in my place once again. Competition is fierce at the top!

I won't be able to play for a few days now but I just picked up a new controller (Hori Fighting Commander Octo) so when I return, I'll begin the transition to that controller. The Dual Sense d-pad sucks for fighting games so hopefully I see less dropped combos once I've reprogrammed my current muscle memory. Would love to use my arcade stick again but it's just too noisy for this time in the morning.
