Kim has absolute authority because it is his undisputed birth right, as it was for two generations before him. There is nobody with this clear indisputable line of succession at this time, so the risks are much higher.

Yeah but as Laga says the military rule the country, the Kim’s are just figureheads. The sister can rule in his place with the military doing the actual running of the country.

It’s probably going to come to horrific bloodshed in the end though, no matter who’s in charge.

I don't believe that the military rule the country, or that the Kims are just figureheads, in fact that really goes against my understanding of the country. I would suggest Kim Jong-Un executing the defence chief using an anti aircraft gun would be decent evidence to show that is not the case, among other things.

Maybe. It is true that very little can be proven about such a secretive state. I must admit, I've never even read anyone question his absolute authority before & a Google search has found a couple of articles questioning it. I know one thing, I wouldn't want to be the one to publicly correct him on his home ground! Interesting quote from his wikipedia page which shows just how highly he is held in NK society (at least, publicly)
