It's pretty easy overall and if you take the time to make food you'll have a solid stock of healing items if you need them. So far on Normal difficulty I've only died once because I tried to take on a hidden boss and it hit harder and faster than I expected. I came close another time in a later area, but came back more prepared and it wasn't bad.

As for 100% on everything: map completion is pretty easy as you can get a couple of tools to check for hidden walls and such. Monsters and shards will likely stump you on a couple, but it's generally alright. The main issue is the grind on drops.

I'm at 99%... The optional boss who is angry at me for not returning something is brutal. Killed me in seconds.

Doing some grinding multi hit sword and also trying to get some money as it appears to be in short supply.

If the game had launched in a few weeks with bugs fixed, slow down on one boss fixed and reviewers given time to review it. Then it would be getting 9 and 10s.

It'll still grow into a massive success through word of mouth and the amount of people who love metroidvania games.

I can't stop playing it and once I've found as much as I can I'll get new game + going and play it to death again.

Wish my image sig would work

My copy of Bloodstained arrived today, having not been overly looking forward to it a couple of weeks ago I’m now actually looking forward to giving it a go. Take it I’m best off to wait for the 1.02 patch to go live though before I start?

Yeah, the main issue is going from 1.0 or 1.01 to 1.02 mid-game, so if you start it before the patch goes live you'll have to continue to the end without updating to avoid potential progress halting issues. So assuming the patch schedule is decent you'll be better off waiting.

It is on PS4 and PC, but I think I saw that Switch won't be a day 1 patch, and think Xbone patch was delayed a bit, but I haven't been following those versions so I could just be going nuts.

So many SOTN references in this. It's amazing to think how much of a strawberry float off this is to Konami. Which is great as they have lost two giants from the world of gaming due to their incompetence in the last few years.

I'm still struggling with an optional boss near the end. But hopefully I'll get him tomorrow.

Some of the late game power ups change the movement dramatically. Speed runners will be amazing on new game plus.

It's just such a joyful game. Beautifully designed and so addictive. A very worth sequel to SOTN and a beautiful grind. Farming and grinding have never been so much fun.

Plus 13 bits of free DLC to come.

You're right as well. Just realised, after downloading my patch and starting the game like a good person who follows Nintendo news, that it's still 1.01. This is not okay. :x

Also it's a bit blurry and the frame rate is funny. I do like the game thus far, and I'll start it again when the patch is out, but my fondness has received some serious knocks.

Seeing on their Twitter that the Switch version will be updated to 1.1? They say this avoids the issue with treasure chests. Do I presume that means it’s good to go or what? Obviously I’ll wait if needs be and hang on starting it.

Yeah, it looks as though Switch is just bypassing this patch altogether and it should be good assuming you update as soon as you start it and it does appear to be a day 0 patch.

It still says v1.01 on the Switch menu. Perhaps that is in fact v1.1? I'm very confused.

And finished.

Did some farming to build a multi hit sword. Beat the very tough optional boss and then the final boss after that. Still shards to find and things to upgrade. Looking forward to new game plus (not sure if that is already in the game)

Very high luck now so I'm getting some good drops and a lot of gold too.

I'm only about 10% of the way through, probably less. It's fairly good but hasn't completely grabbed me.

Hit credits at 99.8% map completion. I'm missing 3 enemies, 2 of which are optional bosses (one of those will give me an extra .1% on my map).

Unfortunately I probably won't be able to play it much anymore, at least for a while, as I'm busy the rest of the week and then Shadowbringers drops, so when I eventually do return, it will be to the infinite grind to get the last items and junk.

Had been my intention to get this on Switch eventually, but it sounds like that is out the question now given how shoddy it looks and how buggy the port is. PS4 gang it is!

PS4 is 60 FPS switch is 30 I think.

It's good to see all the positive feedback for the game. Hope it sells loads.

I've now got three sets of equipment, standard high damage, money farming and high luck for shard farming.

Best enemy in the game has to be the giant cat, brilliant design. Best shard is probably the spinning picture one.
