I've only just started this myself, but I'm really enjoying it so far.

Played it a month or so ago. It kinda annoyed me. The facial animations were pretty good though.

I voted 360. Must have been before the last one died.

Never did buy and play L.A. Noire.

Why? I've not encountered anything frustrating so far, and I'm usually pretty good at finding frustrating game aspects (that's a diplomatic way of saying I get pissed off very easily very quickly at shitty features :slol: )

You constantly repeat the same things over and over again. 20 hours of similar activities every case gets tiring. Admittedly I played the GotY version, so my feelings on this may have been increased by the extra content that was forced on you. The DLC is integrated into the game in that version, and is unskippable.

I felt that some of the plotlines fell a bit flat as well, but I won't go into that as you're still playing. I really enjoyed the game for the first 5 hours or so. Everything is kinda padded out too much with the main story arc.

I also don't really like a lot of Rockstars output. I had a lot of hope for this as it was another developer that did it with Rockstar's guidance. It felt so similar to those titles despite this. It's good that you like it, but it's not for me. I beat it but would never play it again.

Just finished this.

Loved it. Gutted that Phelps dies though. Rockstar are (RDR spoilers) making this into a very bad habit. Thought the various storylines were woven together superbly. Not sure if it's got much replay value, and there were some very frustrating sections, but for overall quality and sheer ambition, I can't fault it.

It wasn't Rockstar. They only published. The game was developed by Team Bondi.

I see this is getting a kicking in the Steam sale thread. What gives?

Is it broken on PC or something?

It's a disappointing game, but not a bad one. Deserves a spiritual sequel.

I was thinking about this game earlier this week. What a fantastic game it was.

One of the games of the generation, for me.

It was pretty broken when I played it on released, but it did get a lot of patches.

When I finished it, the ending cutscene was still unbelievably choppy, so maybe it's still not right.

It doesn't help that it's not a great game, though. Maybe two or three major components that don't really "mesh" terribly well.

The free-roaming city is a nice recreation, BUT one that doesn't really tie into gameplay, and quite boring to navigate. An average adventure game, and an interrogation scene with Bipolar Phelps. If it's getting a kicking it probably deserves it, BUT it's worth what you'd pay for it in a Steam Sale.

I just finished this off today (a bit late, I know).

The setting was well realised, and I'm surprised there aren't more game where you have to play as a cop (on the right side of the law, at least).

Given the whole game is a pastiche of film noir, I wonder if it would have actually been better off ditching the real-life setting and using a fictional one ('40s Los Santos, perhaps?) and the developers could have played around with the tropes a bit more and added a bit of much-needed humour.

The biggest problem is for a game that relies on the player following logic to reach the right conclusion, at times it is not very logical. Frequently the game makes it very difficult to come to the right conclusion even if you have all the evidence.

It reminded me a lot of the first Assassin's Creed. There were a lot of great ideas underneath that weren't fully executed. The facial animation was good, but it didn't actually help the mechanics of the game.

Also, it must have cost an absolute bomb to make with all the new tech and the huge cast of voice actors.

It had loads of potential, but it was dragged out so much that it felt like such a slog in the end. If it had been a lot shorter and more concise - and they hadn't strawberry floated up the interrogation options - it could have been really good. As it is it just felt like a wasted opportunity to me.

I do find it surprising that the face-scanning tech in this hasn't become industry standard, it was such a memorable feature.

(Or has it become industry standard and I've been living in a cave?)

Interesting news. I didn't think we'd see it updated, given its troubled history. I wonder how it'll be on the Vive?

I can't remember who the murderer was in this, so I could theoretically play it again.

I vaguely remember the character you play as cheating on his wife.
