The whole incident lasted about 15 to 20 minutes according to witness Mr Abdallah, and another bystander told him Ms Cox had also been stabbed.

He added: "He was kicking her and he was pulling her by her hair. A very courageous man from the dry cleaners tried to restrain him and he couldn't stop him because all of a sudden he pulled a gun. She was a standing still target for him when he shot her."

Guardian pulled the MPs tweet while they try and get it verified.

Remain campaign suspending campaigning as well so quickly indicates that they are a bit worried this could be one of their own and pretty bad PR.

See?

Isn't there precedent for this sort of event in elections etc for (regardless of motivations) for both sides pause for good taste/letting actual information arrive?

Think it's very telling that only one of the various stories has mentioned "Britian First" - looking a bit shaky.

Eagle could be in some hot water. (Although obviously not the worst thing to happen to an MP today)

The trouble with her tweet is, we all know that had an eyewitness reported that the attacker shouted 'Admiral Ackbar', someone called Angela Eagle would have been deathly silent on the matter.

Angela Eagle is a total split for sharing unsubstantiated, highly-politicised rumours while one of her colleagues is in hospital. She should float off.

Personally I'd say Maria Eagle will be in more trouble, but you two go with your guts.

Eagle has fallen into the trap of leaping on something that reinforces an already held belief or narrative. Had this man been Islamic she wouldn't have said anything, and someone from Leave would have pounced on it instead. Or Trump.

It works both ways.

I didn't realise Eight probably got it wrong, I assumed it was just using the "her sister would keep quiet" about it to attack Maria :fp:

But I like the fact Moggy is blaming the wrong person. Again.
