I think Lennon and McCartney wrote Yellow Submarine whereas Octopuses' Garden was written by Ringo, which is clearly the difference.

Possibly mine as well, it was the first Beatles album I properly listened to

In terms of likeability:
Ringo > George > Paul > John

In terms of music:
Paul > John > George > Ringo

Coolness:

John > George > Ringo > Paul

Talent:

Paul > John=George > Ringo

Likeability:

Paul > George > Ringo=John

Overall:

Paul > George > John > Ringo

But I think Ringo is my favourite.

The final album and it's much much better than people give it credit for. There's some amazing tracks on here and there's nothing you'd hate as much as Yellow Submarine. strawberry float Yellow Submarine.

It's not up there with Sgt Pepper/Revolver/Abbey Road/White Album/Rubber Soul/Mystery Tour (strawberry float me what a run of form those were!), but it's good.

8.5/10

But wait.....what's this?

Slightly cheating here as I listened to this last week a few times after Tomous kept recommending it.

It's bloody tremendous in my opinion. It strips out Phil Spector's nonsense, puts the tracks in a much much better order and adds in Don't Let Me Down. I know Spector has done worse crimes, but it really was criminal not to include DLMD, it's such a good song.

9.5/10

Now you've just got The Best of The Beatles and then you're done.

That's actually true as I'm going to listen to 1 and see if the greatest hits really is the best album.

McCartney has some great post Beatles work but he's done some real crazy shite as well!

I'd highly recommend cherry picking solo stuff to listen to, you really don't want to miss out on some of what they did later - George in particular

Ad7 was recommending George's first album so I will check that out at least.
