We've got a TV, movie and videogame version so why not? One of my new years resolutions is to listen to more albums so this is a stealth way of keeping an eye out for recommendations :shifty:

the last album i actually listened to was one of my favourites, Eyehategod's Dopesick.
this is not an album id recommend to most people unless they are big sludge or metal fans, and even then maybe not. however once you get past its abrasive intro (guy screaming and smashing a bottle on the ground) it has some nice tempo variation, amazing riffs, and HEAVY sound. i love it.

10/10

Couple I've been really enjoying lately:

Good Morning To The Night - Elton John vs Pnau - 9/10

Ian put me onto Pnau last year and I've been obsessed with this album for ages. It's a remix EP made of samples of various early Elton John songs mixed together (with his blessing) to form 7 new songs and it is brilliant fun. The song's work well enough you'd think they were in the studio with Elton working it all out together. It's a really full sounding album with a lot of moments that make you want to dance but also really atmospheric at times.

War on Drugs - Lost in a Dream - 10/10

One of my favourite albums of all time, and in my mind is pretty much perfection. It's a dreamy, mellow rock album, that after a few listens really sinks its claws into you. It is very understated in places but keeps growing and growing on you to the point where even the simplest chord changes hit you.

Brody Dalle: Diploid Love

I'm really enjoying this. Really didn't think much to the recent Distillers songs but this is great.

Kavinsky: Outrun

I've been listening to some synthwave since Cyberpunk released and this has been my favourite album so far. Better than Pertubator.

Great idea for a thread, I've been looking at trying some new stuff for a while now

Your mileage may vary but I've been playing this a lot recently 8/10

I discovered this band during lockdown and this album did a lot to help me through, especially the last track. Not the most popular genre of music out there but I like it. 8/10

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Miracle of Sound - Level 11

Obviously I've already heard most of the songs via YouTube but it's great listening as an album. The Doom and Disco Elysium songs are absolute God tier.

And I don't use Spotify so blow it out your ass.

Listening to it now, the first track hasn't put me off.

Vocals are a bit on the the guttural shouty side but as long as it doesn't get into literal grunting I can cope.

I've made it through the whole album .

I don't dislike it but I don't think it'll make for regular listening .

7/10 as I do like the heavyness of the music.
