I'd always heard this album was bad.

But MHTL is right, it's a really great album. It even manages to fit in a weird Only Fools And Horses tribute song in the middle.

Much better than Band on the Run, i especially liked Monkberry Moon Delight, cracking song.

Glad you enjoyed it! It does have a weird reputation, one of my mates who's massively into everything Beatles hates it with a passion. Probs because it sounds nothing like The Beatles.

I've never given any of the solo stuff a chance outside of George Harrison. Sounds like I've been missing out so I'll try these myself.

Yeah I can understand the bad reaction when the album came out, it isn't very Beatles. Which I imagine was the idea, probably the last thing McCartney wanted to do was make a solo Beatles sounding album.

I'm not listening to any more solo Ringo, but I might carry on with this and give another solo Lennon and solo Harrison a go. Feels fair to even them up.

Yeah, Ringo's voice was fine for the odd song on a Beatles album but its really not going to carry a whole album.

The title track has been so overplayed that it's almost unlistenable now.

But the rest of the album is good, I especially enjoyed "How Do You Sleep". Ouch.

I think I preferred Plastic Ono Band, but it's definitely worth skipping track 1 and listening to the other tracks on Imagine.

John, Paul and George looked so old back then.

Imagine (pun intended) if Lennon had lived into the 80s. He'd have been working with NWA on "strawberry float The Paulice".

Wah wah by Harrison was written on the day he left the Beatles during the let it be sessions, and is about McCartney being a banana split.

How about this weird song by Paul about a man trying to solve a staffing issue in his business. It's electro pop so sounds nothing like anything else Beatles related.

The thread title

It's nice to see the diss tracks continuing with Sue Me, Sue You Blues. ;)

Harrison clearly wanted an even more overtly religious/spiritual album with this one. There's nothing unpleasant to listen to on this album, but it is very samey.

Amusing that Harrison has a track called "Be Here Now" and previously released an album called "Wonderwall". Those thieving Gallagher brothers.

Great album! I am not usually a fan of these supergroups, they are usually nowhere near as good as the sum of their parts, but this is a really nice listen. So good, I listened to it again immediately after finishing it.

Oh dear. Vol 3 massively misses Roy Orbison, his voice was just so silky smooth on the first album. There's nothing bad on Vol 3, it's just there wasn't much there at all that jumped out at me.

I would have, but I had already looked them up on Wikipedia before searching albums and so knew about George's joke.

Back to work = back to listening to albums.

I don't hate Yoko Ono as a person but I can't stand her music. So half of this album is at best ok, at worst unbearable.

The Lennon side of things is decent enough. Watching the Wheels is a nice tune I'd not heard before. His side of the album is not even close to his best work though.

Ono: 3/10
Lennon: 7.5/10

My favourite Dream Theater album, easily their best even 30 years later - 9/10
