Edge of Tomorrow 3/3

Good film, strawberry floating awful choice of music for the end credits. One of the few recent cases where casting Tom Cruise in a big budget film made sense.

Nice to see an action film score without all the DURRRR noises that everyone started using after Inception

Billy Madison - 5
Fairly amusing and much better that what I tried to watch....

Highlander - 2
Has this aged badly or what? I challenge anyone to try and watch this again. The music, the acting, bloody terrible. Started watching this with the kids on Saturday night and watched it as long as I could (about 20 minutes) but it hit maximum cringe level so we stopped and went with the film above.

I had the displeasure to watch, probably the worst movie, in my entire life on Friday night.....

Gallow Walkers.....

It was only a couple of quid in the shop, and me and the missus are into horror movies, so we 'tend to watch loads during the weekend. It was billed as 'Blade with zombies in the wild west' obviously it starred Wesley Snipes. Sounds appealing right? Wrong. It was strawberry floating diabolical. The story, if there was one, was all over the place. The editing was mismash, the acting was laughable as along side the script! I wanted to turn it off after 5-10 minutes, but she wanted to persevere. Well, I managed to make it to the end and just shook my head.....

1/10 for the final credits.......as it was a relief to see them!!!!!

Source Code – 7/10

Hmm. I’m not sure if the concept was good or absurd, but it kept me entertained nonetheless.

Thought Gyllenhall was decent, and Vera Farmiga is always good.

The ending made no sense at all though, and the film could’ve/should’ve finished about 10 minutes earlier than it did.

Honeymoon

Irritating characters, and a silly story, but in amongst that was something brilliant; something that I mulled over after the film had finished. It touches on the manipulative power of lies in a relationship, and uses the psychological horror of slowly recognising that your significant other is someone you don't really know, very effectively. Also, the film has one crazy Cronenberg-esque scene in its final act that was perfectly timed.

Recently watched:

Mission Impossible- It was alright really. I correctly guessed the big twist almost very early on and some of it was ridiculous, but it was good fun. No real desire to watch the others though. 7

Reservoir Dogs
- Watched this as I really enjoyed my first Tarantino film a few weeks ago (Django), but really didn't get on with this at all. The language put me off a bit, I didn't care about any of the characters or pretty much any of it actually. Very disappointing. 4

They Came Together
- Watched as I like Amy Poehler even though she is in some terrible films. Turned off after 10 minutes or so as I hated nearly everything about it. Was nice to see Kenanthough, haven't seen him in ages. -

Friends with Benefits- Not bad at all. Nothing groundbreaking by any means, but Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake are perfectly watchable, it's got plenty of laughs and sweet moments and moves along at a nice pace. 7

Leon the Professional- I really enjoyed this, though I probably did go in expecting too much. I was pleased to finally see the Gary Oldman 'Everyone' gif in action. 8

The Way Way Back- Not as funny as I was expecting, and Mich Steve Carell seems too nice to play a mean spirited role, but it was alright and I quite liked it. 7

Memento- Yes. Chris Nolan makes some cracking films and this was no exception. And, due to his brother's involvement, I think I'm going to have to start Person of Interest now. 9

I'm not having that, I watch Highlander once or twice a year and it's still as incredible now as it was in the 1980s.

Watched it at the weekend, and was the first thing I said at the end of the film, what a terrible choice of track, really didnt fit at all. Really enjoyed it, also thought they set Cruises character up at the start of the film in a really similar way to Murray in Groundhog day, but maybe that was just me

The acting is terrible, not sure why he is dissing the Queen sound track though. The story is fantastic and has a great flow to it, but it is awfully executed. That was the case in the 80's though, so not a case of aging badly, but this is one of the 80's action films that really deserves a remake.

Donnie Brasco. 8.5/10

One of the frequently overlooked gangster films, I think, but deserves its place at the top table. I love the way it injects more pathos into the main characters than you might normally be used to watching films of this genre.

Leftie really is a bit of a loser, but he is utterly charming. It feels like if you found out your ill granddad was wrapped up in stuff he shouldn't be.

I defy you to watch this film and not find yourself imitating him for at least the next 24 hours. Forgetaboutit and 'It's a fugazi' being the two most quotable lines.

Great stuff. Oh, and Anne Heche was a phenomenal-looking woman in her time. :datass:

When I said music, I meant the general 80s incidental music. Queen are terrific.

Afflicted

There's still life left in the found footage genre! Not.
