Baby Driver 8/10- Fun film with some great set pieces with a good but not great plot.

Spider-Man Homecoming-
Like Wonder Woman I'd call this film charming with a very likeable lead.
-What's the point of renaming Ganke, Ned when Miles apparently exists in this universe? He was Ganke in every single way, even down to the Lego!
- Nacho as Scorpion!
-I'm actually optimistic about the next Spider-Man film afterwards, which surprises me.
-I liked Michelle a lot in this but that "My friends call me MJ" line was forced as hell. She's presumably known these guys for years so why now suddenly invent her own nickname? Either call her MJ from the start or keep her name as Michelle.

Spider-Man Homecoming 8/10. I thought they really nailed the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man shtick.lots of fun, layered bad guy, the 80s nods were fantastic and Marisa Tomei 
Only negative, most of the action has already been spoiled.

Spider-Man Homecoming

It's ok, but it's not revolutionary. Comfortably middle of the pack in terms of MCU films.
Holland and Keaton was great, and while they nailed Peter, I thought Spiderman fights weren't nearly kinetic enough (Amazing did this well).
The best friend was the worst part by far.
That troll post-credits scene though

Departures - 8/10
Good lord this was depressing.
+ Nice shots of Yamagata.
+ Excellent soundtrack.
+ Emotionally affecting.
+ Unusual but interesting premise.
- Could've been slightly shorter.
- Some attempts at comedic moments felt out of place.
Can anybody recommend any other good Japanese films?

Skippy - There were two in the 70s. Nicholas Hammond played Spiderman. I'm old enough to have seen them in the cinema....
If you check Wikipedia you will see they were made for TV but had a cinema release outside of US.

Baby Driver - 9/10
Wonderfully made. Brilliant pace and supporting cast. Exceptional soundtrack and very good ending. Easily his best movie and most confident.
Only negative was the love interest was a bit meh.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - 8/10. Easily the best Spider-Man film made. The fight scene near the end was a little hard to keep up with, and a couple of annoying characters, but hard to fault other than that.

Blair Witch - 2016 - 1/10
Sheer boredom. A lot of first person stuff in it reminded me of Resident Evil 7. Expect the first 2 hours of Resi did it better.
A nice body horror sub plot is wasted. It doesn't so much as pay homage , it rips off Evil Dead, Rec and others. It's just very boring and silly.
Blair Witch (original) , the last broadcast, Cannibal Holocaust, they show how genuinely disturbing found footage can be.
This is made for teens to watch in the cinema and scream at. Cheap , loud and obvious.
Evil Dead did loud noises in the wood 30 years ago and did it better.
Thankfully it's only 1 hour 30 mins long.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes
This movie is kinda different in tone to Dawn. Still pretty good. I totally forgot about that NOOOOOOOO scene. Made my back hair stand up.
Onto Dawn before I go to see War. High hopes for the new one.

The best thing I can say is that I've just done 2 night shifts and was worried about nodding off. I don't think I took my eyes off the screen once, that was superb. Haven't enjoyed a film that much in a long time.

Deadpool - 8/10
Brilliantly daft and surprisingly violent, there's some genuinely hilarious one liners and the whole thing is a fun viewing experience.
Also, Deadpool's mrs is smoking hot

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - 8/10
+ Visually very nice
+ Pleasant soundtrack
+ Plot kept me intrigued
+ Some funny moments
- Felt like it went on a bit too long
Wasn't sure what to expect going into this. I've never really watched any anime, but it was a very pleasant surprise. Started off pretty whimsical and light but got quite serious at times. Was a little bit too high-school-romance-y perhaps, but that's just my taste. Overally very accomplished.
