Wildly overrated. It was entertaining enough in a 'twisty turny b-movie' kinda way but pretty slight, and loses its way in the final act. How it got a Best Picture nod I'll never know.

I’m attempting to watch King Arthur: Legend of the sword, the guy ritchie one. About 15 mins in. gooseberry fool so far. Not sure if I can watch it all.

Pirates of the Caribbean, Salazar's revenge. This is the worst POTC film yet. No laugh out loud moments and nothing very exciting action wise.

The Hitman's bodyguard 7/10 - Not ground breaking stuff, but I though Reynolds and SLJ played well off each other, and there's some decentish action scenes.

It's interminable, isn't it? I watched it on Sunday night and can't remember anything that happened.

Jason Bourne - 8/10
LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended) - 9/10
Train to Busan - 10/10
Ballerina (no laughing at the back) - 8/10

Watched around 20 minutes of Birdman on TV a few nights ago too, and i hated it.

I did the same - painfully dull.

Northmen.

Pretty generic story about a group of Vikings being marooned in Scotland. Never really got going and was just plain daft in places.

Dr Strange. Watched this last year on a flight so watched it again last night. Had fairly low expectations of this but thought it was a solid Marvel Studios title. 8

Yeah it must've been a great advert for the place (murders aside). Bet they saw a tourism boom.

Based on a true story, but I enjoyed it.

In the lobby of the Hotel Academie, they have a huge In Bruges poster on the wall opposite reception.

The characters were right too, the bell tower steps are very narrow so that guy would have struggled to reach the top (also, you can't walk under or touch the bell, it's protected by wire mesh)

3 Billboards 9/10

McDonagh's playwright experience comes to the fore again here, just as in In Bruge. He plays up every possible movie trope around the small-town revenge flick then violently veers away from them leaving the audience gasping in his wake. What a remarkable piece of work this is.

Also, saw the trailer for Shape of Water and realised I'm not going to be able to strawberry floating watch it over here in France as half the bloody thing is in subtitled sign-language.

Iron-Man 3 - 7/10
Enjoyable but slightly unsatisfying end to the IM trilogy. Commits the cardinal sin of superhero movies (for me anyway) of there being hardly any of the actual super-hero. Far too much of Tony walking about investigating/talking and not enough actual Iron Man action. That said, what action sequences are there are decent enough and the "House Party" protocol at the end was awesome. I do wish they'd ended with Pepper getting the Rescue suit, or something similar though. Otherwise it's a decent adaptation of the Extremis and Five Nightmares storylines.

The Shape of Water - 7/10
I'm a sucker for Guillermo Del Toro stuff and this was no exception. Wonderfully shot and directed, I really enjoyed it. Gets marked down for being a bit predictable at points, but well worth a watch. Definitely deserves a lot of the nominations it's received. Though it'll be weird if a movie where a woman falls in love and has sex with a Fishman wins Best Picture.

Anyhow I watched Three Billboards - 8/10.

Engrossing, surprising and Sam Rockwell is really great in it.

McDormand was good too but perhaps a little too mannered for me to fully relax into believing her. Also her character talks 'to herself' out loud to a deer which is what people only do when written for drama. See also: Huge writing scrawled on walls by desperate survivors etc.

A great film all round, though.

I dunno, maybe it's just down to a matter of personal taste but i just couldn't get into it at all, i mean it wasn't absolute bottom of the pile incinerate all copies trash like Rubber, but still.
