Tomb Raider 9.8/10
Fantastic film bringing the Tomb Raider series back to life. Amazing action sequences and decent typical Tomb Raider storyline.

Yes. Such a fun film but with an ending I don't quite remember - didn't the chief escape? Kinda remember it being quite sad.

Mute - 5/10
Don't really know what to say. Just glad I watched it over 3 sessions rather than all at once or the minor pleasure I got from it would have been annihilated. It kind of reminded me of Demolition Man in places. Just a total disappointment.
You Were Never Really Here - 9/10
This is what I was hoping Mute was going to be like. Just awesome in every regard. Joaquin Phoenix is the man.

I never watched the film of Cuckoo's nest but read the book. Worth a watch then? Its a great book.

Probably my initial excitement after seeing it, I would maybe rate it an 8/10 now. Its a decent film with an interesting storyline but not near a 10.
I haven't seen either of those 2 films unfortunately :/ to compare.

Meh, this is getting good reviews but it didn’t click with me. It wasn’t half as clever as it thought it was and there were too many stupid decisions being made.
Not bad, but not great.

Tomb Raider 2018 - 3/10
My word that was generic. Basically a gooseberry fool version of the game shot by someone who has only seen 90s adventure films.
Terrible closing shot, slow motion fall to death, obvious twist, flash backs to explain the twist as the audience is deemed too stupid, last minute save of characters. It's just beyond generic and boring.
No actual threat and it's actually very misogynistic, a woman who is constantly saved by men, motivated by a man, unable to do single task without a man, makes terrible choices.... For men. Could go into more but it's just so 90s, basically The Phantom, The Shadow, Zorro but without personality or a single good action scene.

Annihilation - loved the way it looked and the deliberate slow pace. Some really unforgettable scenes, and I'll be keen to give it a rewatch. 8/10
Bone Tomahawk - For some reason I've always skipped over this film thinking it'd be a generic western. It's certainly not that, and way better than I expected. I'd be tempted to give it full marks, but the ending felt a little rushed compared to the slow build up. Even with the 2hr runtime I wish it was 20 minutes longer. 9/10

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I watch this every couple of years or so and I find it mesmerising. It's quite odd but with, in my view, wonderful moments of feeling. Jim Carrey shows another side to his acting skill and Kate Winslet is terrific.

"I know."
"What do we do?"
"Enjoy it."
And the ending is just perfect. I love it... it's one of my favourite films.

It's great, isn't it. The slow and deliberate pace really helps build tension and then you finally see
those freaks living in the cave, so weird. Horrific violence too, which is always a plus.

This is what happens when you let a couple of nerds loose on a film script with a big budget.
It comes across as though it's aimed at children, but derives most of its comedy and 'memorable' moments by injecting a steady stream of references from the 80s that won't mean anything to them.
Only manchild applicants need apply.

Yeah, I can see that in some ways, dude... but the way it ends up always seems to be a high point to me
