Marvel only release 2 or 3 a year and Warner’s only 1 or 2. 8-10 hours or so of superhero movies over an entire year doesn’t sound that bad to me.

I can’t remember the last one I bothered to pay to see at the cinema though. ;)

That's still too many I feel, plus it's pretty much every year. Then you factor in the slew of serials. Complete overkill.

10 hours a year is too much? People spend longer than that every single weekend just watching football.

It's not just the films themselves; it's all the hype, previews, sneak-peeks, interviews, tv-spots, behind-the-scenes, articles, teasers, adverts, Happy Meal toys, press releases, comicon guff etc etc. It's too much.

I think you're purposely missing the point. Several superhero movies a year steals away the excitement and it just becomes a situation of "oh, it's another of those movies. Yawn*.

I like Star Wars as well, but I wouldn't want several films a year about it.

I don't watch football either. Tedious sport.

I’m not purposely missing the point, I just don’t think releasing a movie every 3 or 4 months is a big issue. Eastenders is on 4 or 5 times a week, there are far more Dot Cottons per year than Iron Mans.

If you don’t like it then fair enough, you don’t have to watch them.

No I don't have to watch them, so I don't based on reasons above - which were originally in reply to Bido.

I also understand that millions of fans can't get enough of this stuff, and that's cool too.

Now if Dot Cotton was Iron man, I think I could get behind these movies.

I think you will find that it is impossible to change the sex of a fictional character.

To use that example - if you asked the majority of star wars fans - ok we're going to release four films a year for the next five years.

Each major character will have their own film and then they'll be linked and have a couple of films that pulls them all together.

So a Han Solo film, leia Film, Chewbacca film, Yoda, Vader, Maul, Palpatine, et al
then Star wars Infinity force whatever.

Star wars fans would think they'd died and gone to heaven.
Mining the whole of the star wars universe for film material?
Who wouldn't want to see a Darth Bane origin story? or any other one of the thousands you could pick.

I wouldn't want standalone films for individual star wars characters, though. I wouldn't care about a Yoda film or a Palpatine film. A Han Solo solo film doesn't appeal, a Boba Fett film doesn't really appeal.

Rogue One was good because it was an ensemble thing and the ending was classic Star Wars while still being it's own kind of thing.

I want films based on the extended universe stuff, not films going into the disappointing origin stories of on characters I already know.

As the comic book films have shown, origin stories are boring now. Give us new stories.

I like Star Wars but am not its biggest fan.

I can’t really see the point of the standalone character movies. Rogue One was decent and I am sure the Episode movies will be good, but if they want to expand it then they need to tell different stories with new characters, not just make a movie showing how Han Solo was a smuggler (no gooseberry fool!).

The KOTOR games were good, why not tell some stories set long before the Republic/Empire era? Some movies set in a time before the Jedi/Sith or movies that show how the Jedi/Sith came to be could be good.

Valerian and the City of a thousand planets - 7/10

Very long but enjoyable spectacle. Both of the leads are good and the effects are truly stunning. It has some strong action scenes and so many aliens and alien worlds. It could have easily been called The Fifth Element 2 as the themes and style are identical. However it lacks any real emotional depth and the last 40 minutes are so really drag as it's a very long movie. I'd recommend it though as it looka brilliant and is very watchable.

Wish my image sig would work

Ghost in the Shell (2017) - 6.5/10

Looked nice, particularly Scarlett in her combat onesie, but otherwise this was a bit meh. It definitely helped that I'd seen the original otherwise I don't think I've had kept watching. I enjoyed the aesthetic and atmosphere, makes me excited for Bladerunner 2049 :datass:

Doctor Strange

First time seeing it and I thought it was awesome. Loved the whole thing and I don't understand how people have the opinion that it's naff. Also didn't know what the after credits scenes were so they were both pretty awesome surprises. Didn't know anything of Mordo so was pretty gutted by that after credits scene.

Hate to disappoint you :(.

I missed the first hour because of the football, which was a shame. Also I didn't give any money to the donations box at the end because strawberry float religion 8-).
