I'll never forget the groans in the cinema at that part, most of us were already pulling our hair out at how awful the film was. It wasn't just the terrible effects that would have been dated several years earlier, but it was Brosnan's gurning face as the camera zoomed in.

It's the worst Bond film. So bad it lead to a major reboot where they had no real choice but to start from scratch.

At least the classic Casino Royale rose from the ashes.

Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness (2022) - 8/10. I went in deliberately not watching any promos or knowing anything about this film. I really liked it but you often need to see other Marvel movies to fully appreciate the one you're watching - now we're expected to watch the Disney Plus series as well. It might be worth having a look at Wandavision before seeing this. Bloody good film though and some surprises Wasn't expecting to see Professor Xavier

If they want everyone to watch the spin off shows, perhaps they shouldn't limit it to their own streaming service and release a physical version too.

Sorry good point - I'm kind of casual with these films, I've changed it now. Thanks

Thanks  I'm still amazed I've made it this far without hearing/reading anything about it. I give it a matter of days before YouTube recommends me some shitty "ALL THE GASP MOMENTS IN MoM" and shows every single surprise in one thumbnail :dread:

The Father - 10.

Excellent film. Really, really well executed and quite emotional in parts. It would be a very difficult film to recommend to anyone without first knowing if they had a family history of demential and/or elderly caring. If you did, it would be a very tough watch indeed.

This sounds dramatic, but for some reason it made me really think about my own mortality. I actually was quite sad after the film ended because of that. It didn't hit my wife in the same way, but I just thought it was an interesting tidbit.

Highly recommended, and it's on Prime just now.

Just got back from seeing this with the kids.
We really enjoyed it. It dips in the middle with the bollocks wedding bullshit bit, but gathers pace again soon enough after.

Loved the super sonic appearance at the end.
And my oldest got super excited by the end credits scene with shadow

Sonic 2 7/10

The bit you reference could have easily been got rid of, cutting the run time down by 10 minutes making the whole thing tighter. I was beginning to get a bit bored by the end due to the run time.

It's a fairly generic 6/10 action CGI fest but I like Sonic so it's worth an extra point.

Robocop

9.5/10

I always forget just how good this film actually is. An absolute classic. The world building and atmosphere is just perfect.

Sonic 2 - 8/10

Took my son to see it for his birthday treat, but I really wanted to see it as well. We all really enjoyed it, I was surprised at how it managed to make me laugh all the way through.

Ghostbusters Afterlife - 7/10

There's a lot here to like. Decent performances and some nostalgia done well. Unfortunately some of the nostalgia is also done appallingly.

I didn't expect the original Ghostbusters to all turn up, I figured Aykroyd would be the only tiny cameo. It was great to see them all suited up again.

But, the finale was just the first movie again. Could the scriptwriters not have thought of another big bad, or at least a different way of dealing with Gozer?

Still, it's worth watching.

That's a quality list, especially Lawrence of Arabia  and always had a soft spot for Brewster's Millions.

All The Old Knives - 3/10

Slow and ultimately boring film about a CIA mole. First of all, Chris Pine is way too good looking to be a CIA spy. Second of all, they must have been going for a record number of dramatic pauses in this film. And the dialogue is utterly terrible. Predictable twist, and a plot that doesn't really hold up to any kind of scrutiny. Real lack of tension too which is bit of an issue for a film trying to be a spy thriller. Random softcore porn scene in the middle of the film though which was fun.

Would not recommend.

The Protégé - 6/10

I think the story is let down by being left too ambiguous for too long - it isn't until near the end where some vital components, one of which lays the foundation for its central bad guy, come together - but on the other side of that coin you get a pseudo-investigative thriller with some decent action and serviceable performances alongside a fun chemistry between Maggie Q and Michael Keaton.

Yeah I'd agree with that score. The action was very well done, and considering the film was directed by Martin Campbell (Of Goldeneye/Casino Royale) fame it was no surprise. That sex scene between Maggie Q and Michael Keaton was so unnecessary though.

Thunderball

Weakest one for me so far. And also had the most uncomfortable Bond yet with the way he blackmailed a woman into having sex with him on the threat of losing her job.
