The Karate Kid (original)

This was one of my staple films, along with Star Wars, Goonies, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and Jaws, as a kid. Watched it loads.

For some reason it's the only one of that group that I've not watched since. Must be over 25 years since I watched it.

Really enjoyed it. Some classic scenes and 80s soundtrack.

You're the best around/10

Watched it in preparation for Cobra Kai. Watched the first 2 episodes of that now and its strawberry floating great!

Jojo Rabbit - 10

Oh my goodness, please go and see this everyone. It is absolutely brilliant and nailed on film of 2020 already. It's beautifully told story with an utterly fantastic set of performances from the entire cast. Johansen and Rockwell absolutely knock it out the park but the kids steal the whole thing and Jojo is beyond belief good. It's such an achingly sweet funny film but will have you in tears as much as it will have you belly aching with laughter. Perfectly pitched and inspired screenplay from Watiti and definitely the best film on his stellar resume. I've never seen a non-Epic movie at the cinema more than once, this will probably be the first as there's no way I can wait for home release to see it again. Up there with Spiderverse in terms of coming out of the cinema flabbergasted at how good it was.

Watched it now, can't agree with him at all (and he doesn't exactly argue well either). It's absolutely from the eyes of a 10 year old, the threat and loss in the film is definitely there

Got to 8 minutes when he was wildly misinterpreting what's happening in the film and stopped. What a buffoon.

I only know Robbie Collin from the times I want to watch a Mark Kermode review and he's on holiday or something.

I wouldn't call 6/10 a perfect score. It's only 60% of a perfect score.

The Death of Stalin - 8/10

Really enjoyable, gives a funny take on how absurd it must have been when Stalin croaked and the panic it must have caused amongst all the sycophants and opportunists.

I need to watch that. It's on Netflix now. So I really have no excuse.

Brilliant film. I love the inside looking of how the communist party operated. Same reason I enjoyed Chernobyl so much.

I really need to get around to watching The Death of Stalin, as noted it's on Netflix so there really is no excuse.

I normally hoover up anything that Armando Iannucci touches so I'm surprised I haven't managed to see this yet!

It's a top notch film with a stellar cast. The thing I liked the most was that although it was funny, it wasn't really a farce as there is some really, really dark stuff in it as well.

Yeah the ending goes very dark very quickly :lol:

Coincidentally I also watched The Death of Stalin last night. It was my second viewing and I love it. All the performances are just so good and it's hilarious in its absurdity without being over the top.

Jason Isaacs as General Zhukov is great, bet he loved playing that role.

John Wick 3 - I skipped through some of the fights, including the final one. I don't think I'll be in a rush to watch a 4th. Loved the first 2 though.

edit: Has anyone ever called it Harry Potter with guns? I hope I'm the first.

Diminishing returns on these films, this one was perfectly fine but some of the fight scenes went on for far too long. Was also a bit weird that the main antagonists of the film weren't really John's enemies, they were more the Continental's.

Largely agree with this. Not a bad film per se, just more of the same and growing stale. The addition of animals into some of the fights was a bit weird too. I'd probably score it a bit lower at 6/10.

My only problem was that his screentime was way too short. I could watch a whole movie of Isaacs playing Zhukov

Yep he is an absolute riot.

I think it's the yorkshire accent that really makes it.
