I've always found FRWL to be hideously overrated. It's comfortably the worst of the first five films.

Worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

Haven't seen much in the way of early James Bond, and i hadn't seen this one at all.

Very good it was too, though i did already recognise half the scenes as they seemed to end up in the Austin Powers trilogy.

From Russia With Love will be on itv this Saturday.

Yeah, i'm gonna make a special effort to try and see that.

The plot is bizarre. IIRC Blofeld's grand plan is to embarrass the British government by filming Bond banging a Russian solder and then have him killed.

What?

This was the era of the Profumo affair though.

Fleming's book was published a few years before the Profumo affair but I get your point. I suppose a 1963 audience would have treated the film differently.

The Matrix Revolutions - 8/10

Its aged a lot better than expected. The Zion battle is still brilliant and the effects are all beautifully done. The plot is a bit weird as it has a lot of potential but just falls at the very end.

For a film in the matrix trilogy it doesn't feature a lot of the matrix. Only a few little bits and then the final dragon ball Z style battle. A terrible final battle which while very hard to film.

Would have been much better if Neo had just ran from agent Smith and led him to the original subway and then recreate that fight but with more to lose and with the two of them now stronger.

The ending is a none event and Morpheus doesn't do much at all. A few small changes would have really made this an excellent movie. Have Morpheus lead the Defence of Zion and die as the captain did, would have massively upped the emotion.

Still it's a watchable film and the 4th film next year has huge potential as the world that has been created is an exciting one.

Wish my image sig would work

I think From Russia with Love is one of the best bond films. I think its one of the more classier bond films, a truer spy film that doesnt have to rely on special effects, elaborate stunts and gadgets.

Extraction - 6/10

Meh. Decent action but overall pretty mediocre.

If you get the chance, also try and see The Second Renaissance, it formed part of the Animatrix series and tells the story of how the world of The Matrix came to be.

The Wild Blue Yonder 7/10 - Herzog adds a Sci fi narrative to real footage of space travel and scuba diving under ice. It's quite mesmerising and suitably weird.

Hacksaw Ridge - 7/10. I hate to say it, but it is quite engrossing. I thought it was hilarious when I looked up the cast list of this film about American soldiers and saw that only Vince Vaughn out of the principal cast is actually American(Andrew Garfield is also American born but was raised in the U.K. and is a dual citizen). Everyone else is Australian.

Same, i also enjoyed Life and Ad Astra, neither were particularly amazing, but space is still an awesome setting.

Absolutely this. From Russia with Love is just effortlessly wonderful, a brilliant example of Bond as the spy rather than Bond as an action or super hero.

Definitely the worst blockbuster I've seen in years. I actually enjoyed the previous film bit this was just largely poor throughout, felt like basically two different films as well. First half being a carbon copy of The Lost World (apart from the bit with all the dinos launching themselves off the cliff ) All the shite in the second half in the mansion :fp:

*releases killer dinosaurs into the wild :simper: *

???????

Yep. I liked Jurassic World, but Fallen Kingdom left me open mouthed in horror at how bad it was.

It makes JP3 look like Citizen Kane.
