The best thing about Aliens is the friendship between Vasquez and Drake. She could sneeze and he would still be "hell yeah Vasquez you're too much!"

Power of the Dog - 4/5
They smear their themes onto you pretty thickly, but others go unexplored. Tries to be a bit too arty for its own good. Everybody going wild for Cumberbatch but it was Kirsten Dunst who was easily the stand out.

I used to love DH2 until I realised that scene with the plane crash landing because it had to land over running out of fuel, and in fact there's several planes just circling around the Airport waiting to land because the terrorists messed around with the landing lights and systems which is absurd, they'd all be told to go to one of several airports nearby.

It just takes me out of the movie every time it's mentioned or referenced...

They took control of the communications too. That's how they crashed Miles O'Brien's plane, by telling them to land and messing with the altitude indicator.

I understood it to be that death had blocked all communication, and the only contact they could have was with that airport. Maybe they've been sold some bullshit about needing to stay there, and kind find out about other airspace so just have to stick with it.

Suspension of disbelief...

Yeh that scene is rubbish, what even is the plane's vertical speed at that point? And the plane has no fuel...

Also the terrorists give them 2 minutes to talk to the planes to circle. Why not try divert terrorist airport control. Also you can just get a bunch of cars next to the runway and turn the lights on, so much stuff. But ignore that.

I've been thinking about this too much now, and DH2 is now ruined.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood - 8/10

Had no idea what this was about going into it, we just saw that it's getting removed from Netflix tomorrow so watched it last night. As soon as Polanski and Tate were introduced, I knew where it was going but my girlfriend was unfamiliar with the real life events, which made the final 30 minutes interesting given what I was expecting. I thought the curveball in the way the events play out in the movie was well done and Brad Pitt, when playing a character like Cliff, is the coolest mummy strawberry floater alive.

John Wick 2

Much like The Matrix, I feel like this is a concept that worked best in the original, and further entries are kind of more of the same, however the more the world is expanded upon the more contrived and silly it becomes. For example, how big is the assassination economy to support so many people working in this elite and shadowy world. It was enjoyable but the novelty is wearing off a bit, and definitely felt like watching someone play a game which is a mixture of Hitman and Call of Duty on very easy mode.

I went in with zero knowledge of the real life events, to the point that I got to the end credits before I twigged, "That was the Manson Family?!" :slol:

It's a great movie and the Oscar for Brad Pitt was well deserved, if only for the fight scene at the end.
