Hated every minute of it. Felt uncomfortable to watch and I’m not sure what the point of the film was.

It wasn’t meant to be comfortable. The point is how the system have failed him and start his descent to madness as The Joker.

What is the point of glorifying a white man left behind by society losing it and shooting the place up though?

I agree with massimo. It's a horrible film.

I don't see why you think it's glorifying him. Is he presented in a sympathetic manner? Sure, but none of his actions are presented as such

He deals with his pain with violence and that violence gives him happiness and power (the baying crowd worshiping him). I get that he's going mad and that's why the violence gives him such satisfaction but it's a narrative I didn't enjoy at all.

It's fair enough that you didn't enjoy it
I do find it questionable that the people wanting social change worship a guy like him, but guess he kind of just gets caught up in it all. The crowd worshipping him I guess is essentially him letting go of all pretenses of being a functional human and becoming something else. Whether the film says this is a good thing or not idk
In the least the character played by Phoenix isn't relatable in any way, it's like watching something altogether more pitiable

Godzilla vs Kong - 3/10

I thought this was dreadful. Makes the 2014 Godzilla film look like Citizen Kane.

Nobody - 5/10

Wanted this to be better than it was, but ultimately was just very forgettable.

Venom let there be carnage.... 2/10

Very poor film. A movie made without any passion or understanding of what a super hero film can be. The comedy bits weren't funny, the action was just dark CGI on dark CGI and writing was very poor.

Wish my image sig would work

Run - 8/10

Really enjoyed this, really tense film with a brilliant performance from Kiera Allen. Thought the Mum character was a little underdeveloped and the film could have been a bit longer but otherwise, if you're looking for a compelling and absorbing thriller, could do a lot worse than this. And that ending!

Dune (2021) - 9/10

Visually stunning, great performances by all involved (except maybe Zendaya, she didn't exaclty have much acting to do), loved the music and pacing, just brilliant.

Can't wait for part 2 :toot:

There's a real WH40K vibe going on with it which I was not aware of. All that's missing is the Power Armour.

Yes! It's probably as close as we'll get to a AAA Hollywood 40k film.

I particularly liked how the Emperor was only mentioned in passing and wasn't actually shown on screen, with other agents doing his bidding so he's just this brooding presence in the background that's shaping events in the film. I wonder if they'll give us a glimpse of him in part 2.

Glory to the Imperium!

The Prestige 9/10

What a great film! Wish Nolan would go back to this sort of storytelling. Kept me guessing all the way through but had a satisfying and understandable conclusion.

Absolutely Love The Prestige. Might genuinely be in my top five movies of all time. Just love watching it and catching something new I'd missed previously.
Wish I could experience it for the first time again.

I watched 2 films the past few nights.

The Forgotten Battle - An average world war two film. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing great about it 6/10. I think Draco Malfoy played a British Officer though? if it was him, Lollies.

A Few Good Men - SO THAT'S where THAT scene was from. Was going to be a 7/10. But I may give it an 8/10 for Nicholson's famous speech.

Jumanji - The Next Level - 7/10

Enjoyed this a lot. Probably not as good as the first but it's still really good fun. The cast all excel, especially Kevin Hart. His line:Did I just kill Eddie by talking too slow, like he always said I would? absolutely cracked me up. Ending felt a little flat mainly because the villain was underdeveloped but the themes of transitioning from childhood to adulthood and adulthood to retirement, and your relationships are affected was surprisingly thoughtful. A solid sequel.

Also, Karen Gillan, good god :datass:

One of his best films, in the middle of an incredible run:

Memento
Insomnia
Batman Begins
Prestige
Dark Knight
Inception

Started going downhill for me with Dark Knight Rises unfortunately

I thought this was pretty decent as well, particularly Kevin Hart channelling Danny Glover (less so for the Rock doing Devito).

Yeah the two recent Jumanji movies have been decent fare, they're not going to win any awards but offer perfectly enjoyable action and laughs

Looks like they're making a third based around the fact Jurgen the Brutal was actually an avatar, which feels a bit like they had that idea after the film was released

I think they've done a top job with bringing Jumanji back and updating it but I'm not sure if they've taken it as far as they can with this premise.
